I think the club took a big gamble by keeping him and hoping his goals would at least give us a realistic chance of the play offs. I don't have a problem with that and at least it showed some ambition.
The problem that we do have, imho, is that although we have some big name players in our squad, we look a very average side without him.Comment

yes! was always a gamble to keep him in the summer. now its looking like we wont be in a promotion chase, let him go if we get offered money.
Was worth the gamble imho, no1 matched our 15 mil valuation, which i thought was fair at the time.Comment

chas will be off in january surely someone will take a gamble on him , get some millions now or no millions in the summer . i reckon there is nothing wrong with him and the club are just making sure he don't get injured £££££Comment

We are now stuck with a dwindling asset and shows the shortsightedness of posts in the summer that said "keep Austin/ invest in the squad/ equals promotion." If only it were so easy. Ask any of the burnt out volcanoes - Wolves, Leeds, Coventry, etc etc - that never made it back to the promised land.Comment
