Stockdale is a decent keeper who played for Brighton last night, had Mattys shot gone in rather than hitting the post at the end how bad would he have looked dancing across his goal for a shot that went the other way.

We should stick with Green for the rest of the season but he has to go next year regardless of any potential promotion. Should stop going for these English GKs, just get a decent one in from the continent, there are heaps of them out there and we can outmuscle most European clubs when it comes to wages.

Realistically in Jan I'd like to see a forward that can compliment Charlie and potentially step into his shoes if/when he leaves. Aside form that our squad's pretty complete barring injuries, maybe JFH has someone in mind though.

Both McCarthy and Smithies are far better options than Green.

As someone above pointed out, don't judge either of them on one or two random games for QPR. Judge them on the entire seasons they'd played as top Championship goalkeepers immediately before we signed them.

I think it's too soon to have an opinion on Smithies either way. Looked nervous as anything against Cardiff, but then played quite well against Blackburn - made one save in the 1st half of that game that was nothing less than World Class. As I've already said, he needs a run in the side. Green (who honestly isn't even doing enough at the moment to guarantee a starting place anyway) is simply blocking his progression.

Every club signs dozens of players that are not good enough and never ever get a game, he's one of Pardews. Third choice for them cos he was so toilet when given his big chance in the first team, but should of been first choice for us and better than Green. Nah. Dodged a bullet imo.
Now that Southend keeper Bentley, that's a different story all together.

Not sure why we are still going on about McCarthy. He left in the summer due to Palace meeting a release clause in his contract so not really much we could do. Maybe he will turn out good, maybe he won't but it won't be with us so we should move on.
