I don't think he's any better or worse then any other season with us. Has always been dodgy and an error ridden keeper between the sticks but some appeared willing to ignore this because he pulls the odd first class save off
If he plays rest of the season there will be I would guess three maybe four other errors which result in goals from him it's what he does

Wasn't having a pop, Dave. Just saying....... Opinions and all that. Nasser and I watched Isla play last year and formed diametrically opposed opinions...... Saw the f ack up on TV just now. Shocking error. But some credit ought go to the forward.Originally posted by QPRDave View PostYeah fair point 77, but Clive Allen thought it was his fault too.....I'll nip over the Palace site an see what they think

Shocking mistake from Green that cost us 3 points today. We were comfortable at 1-0 (irrespective of the performance), Forest never looked like scoring. He made a similar mistake in the 1st half but just got away with it. I am not going to say I am done with Green but Smithies now has a chance to make the No. 1 shirt his own and if he plays well then I am happy for him to keep it.

Do we really need to tear into Greeno every time he makes a mistake? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that one won't be his last this season! He is just that kind of keeper and surely we know that by now. However, he will also have matches where he is a big factor in us gaining 1 or 3 points, and he does tend to have more of those than the other kind. He is still one of the best keepers in this division and very likely better than Smithies at the present time.'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.

DS good points but why should we put up with a keeper who we know is going to throw another one into the next. If his errors were one offs then cool but their not there the norm with him we all now expect it to happen and some are accepting of it surely that can't be rightOriginally posted by dsqpr View PostDo we really need to tear into Greeno every time he makes a mistake? I don't think inconsistent is the correct way to put it Shania. I think he is a consistent performer with very few weaknesses in his game. The problem with Green is he is prone to a lapse in concentration and always has been. In that respect he reminds me of David James, has everything as a keeper but you never know how far away the next howler is.Originally posted by Shania View PostI hope they sign Bentley in January. Bentley is the way forward, I think. Green is way too inconsistent.
Green has come out this morning saying that he's sorry for the red and pointing out that it's only his 2nd red in 550 games. Maybe true but only cos he's a lucky b*stard, should have had one against Swansea last season and another against Cardiff last month!
I am a fan of Rob Green but this is his worst run of form since his first 5 or 6 games for us.

Sorry but Greeno is a million miles off David James. Saw DJ as a kid at Watford, unbelievable talent, big, fast and lightning reactions.... His mistakes were coming for balls he could never claim, Green makes basic errors through lack of ability. Keepers should be able to kick and catch, unfortunately Greeno cant do either.Originally posted by Tarbie View PostI don't think inconsistent is the correct way to put it Shania. Agree David James had more talent than Rob Green but I think you're being a bit harsh. Ok, his distribution could be better but to say he can't catch is laughable.Originally posted by bakes8 View PostSorry but Greeno is a million miles off David James. It was actually TWO errors. The first for not just hoofing it, and the second for bringing down the man, causing the inevitable red card. He shouldn't have fouled him as then we'd at least have still had 11 players, and could still have gone on to win the game.Originally posted by bakes8 View PostThis is a basic error.
