Could end up being relegated 3 seasons running from the PL

Doubt very much he will put on a hooped shirt again

Personally I thought he was shite. poor positioning, no threat going up for corners or set pieces, didn't appear to command the back four, relegation specialist. Big waste of money.

Hope we don't see him again. Wrong sort.

Hoping he has a good season so he can come back to us a better player, or we can sell him for a decent fee.

Being happy thats hes not performing doesnt make sense to me

This post is far too sensible for this thread, can't you dumb it down a tad...

              So true.

Still looking like good business for us, knowing how much he earns and how much he cost us. Tbh he would have had a good season in the champ and then settled into a squad ahead of a new season the following year. (All be it not 100% we will go up or even be in the mix)

They've realised he's an absolute lemon, cannot believe they supposedly payed us a loan fee./ Southampton said they didn't and we've said they did, I reckon it's our board trying to save face before we inevitably sell him at a massive loss.

Thing is, he did play for southampton in the prem against Watford and was arguably their best player (between him and cedric to be honest). Kept a clean sheet and made the most clearances from danger of anyone on the pitch. They'll warm to him over time and I feel that he has the physical attributes (as I kept saying) to be a really talented centre back but he just needs to get the positioning and decision making right and that takes experience and game time. Let him make the mistakes to learn from them. We all do it in our day to day life. Its something we all follow as a general rule to give us leeway from our errors. If we make a mistake, we learn from it. Football is the same. If a striker like Inzaghi was caught offside early in a game, he waits longer to make his run for the next through ball and he scores it. For a defender, you mistime a challenge or misplace a header and the next time it happens, you look to do it differently. People need to give him a chance to develop his game.

Kept a clean sheet against Watford. How amazing.

Come back to me when he does it against a team not 3 games out of the championship.

Don't believe you at times Nasser.

Spurs got rid because he wasn't good enough.

Cardiff were desperate, so bought him.

Redknapp was desperate and stupid, so he bought him too.

We were happy to loan him out, even knowing we were then currently left with Nedum, plus an ageing Hill and an inexperienced Hall.

His last three seasons have been: Moved on, Relegated and moved on, Relegated and gratefully loaned out.

No amount of statistics, or even smoke and mirrors are ever going to convince many that the reason for this is that he is a top quality player.

Sure, he'd have been OK for us this season in the Championship, but in PL terms he is just very average.

You can make anything you want out of statistics but here's one for you

                        2 seasons, 2 relegations

I don't buy those kind of stats. Fer also has 2 relegations to his name and he is a fantastic player. 1 player can't be judged like that. Players like Phil Neville have a great CV but he was God damn awful. His brother clearly had all the talented genes
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Ignore the other players around him then. Go on believing that stat mate.

Spurs fans were livid when they got rid. Was the first straw in the AVB out campaign. Redknapp wasn't desperate and stupid in signing him because he had just been touted by many in the game as a future national team regular and captain. He can be a top quality player, he has the tools. I've repeatedly said it myself. He isn't there yet by any means, but he needs to watch the game more to get an understanding of the base decision making required at this level. When he sorts that, he will be fantastic
