Austin's Contract

absolutely spot on. Cant people just be happy he is here. Just had a 75 page thread about him leaving. He stays and 2 days later people are asking why he isnt signing a contract.Originally posted by Garyd73 View PostAustin would be an idiot to sign a new contract with us and I don't believe he is.
Even if he made lets say and extra £1.5m in wages bonus over the next year if he walks away and a club doesn't need to fork out a fee to buy him then he could pocket potentially a £2-5m signing on fee and higher wages than he would normally have got.
Also if he signs and we don't go up if the club still want £15m and no one bids again for a second season running he is stuck in the championship which to be honest he is far too good for.
Makes not one bit of sense for him to sign anything in my opinion.
Pretty simple - we go up, he may stay with us. We go down, no chance he will be here.

Exactly, we are supporters of QPR so it would be the best club for us to play for. Football players aren't supporters. If I was Charlie and playing for Bolton and in the last year of my contract and should be playing in the PL I wouldn't sign a new contract with Bolton.Originally posted by Shania View PostExcuse me, but why look at it that way? We are supporters of QPR. No pun.
I'd love him to sign a new contract but there is no reason at all for him to do that.

I don't remember anybody saying they weren't happy to have him for another season! That has nothing to do with whether we could offer Charlie a contract that would have significant benefits for him.Originally posted by stainrodisalegend View PostGary is right. What is it some fans don't understand? He has been offered contracts repeatedly and has turned them down. Just be glad to have him for another season.
I happen to agree with you in that I don't expect him to sign a new contract but I do think we should still try by putting together the best deal we can reasonably offer him.'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. Doubt he will sign a contract. He could earn an enormous amount as a free agent, I'm talking amounts that we can't get near, especially if he has a good season. Think it would be great if he signs a new deal, just can't see it.C'Mon You Supaaaa!!

So think about it another way, Charlie doesn't sign a new contract and stays on £20k pw and thinks his got a big pay day coming, in April/May his does his shoulder again or breaks a leg etc, he then has no contract with us and no club offers him a deal and his signing on fee goes. So it will be in his interest to sign a deal doubling or more his wages with a reasonable loyalty bonus as he safe guards the next few years and with a clause he can still go if all things go well.

Even if he doesn't do his shoulder in, I wonder how big that pay day will be. I can't see a signing bonus being anywhere close to £5m when teams don't even think he is worth a £15m transfer fee! By running down his contract he is gambling big time. I guess the flip side is whether we are even willing to offer him a new contract as we would certainly have to pay him Premier League wages in order for him to even consider it. In which case, if we don't go up we will be as keen to sell him (to reduce our wage bill) as he would be to move to the PL. So, I see lots of common ground for contract negotiations with Charlie.Originally posted by QPRWEBBIE View PostSo think about it another way, Charlie doesn't sign a new contract and stays on £20k pw and thinks his got a big pay day coming, in April/May his does his shoulder again or breaks a leg etc, he then has no contract with us and no club offers him a deal and his signing on fee goes. Who have taken the opposite stance? Besides, this is a forum where fans have different opinions on many matters. Just my opinion.Originally posted by stainrodisalegend View PostGary is right. good point hope he thinks like this he would probably want a low buy out fee 12 mil but a good season in the championship and he will add to his valueOriginally posted by QPRWEBBIE View PostSo think about it another way, Charlie doesn't sign a new contract and stays on £20k pw and thinks his got a big pay day coming, in April/May his does his shoulder again or breaks a leg etc, he then has no contract with us and no club offers him a deal and his signing on fee goes.
