Agree. This ''give our youngster a chance'' is just ######## if we try to get promoted.

I'm all for the club keeping one eye on the future (especially after the last 4 years or so of handing out huge contracts to players who were past their best), but if we really have designs on promotion we need a handful of campaigners who know the league and will get in the trenches for 46 games. We had it in the NW era with the likes of Hill, Derry, Kenny, Smith, Mackie, Helguson, Gorkss etc. - players who knew their limitations, but would run through a brick wall if asked to. That's what gets you out of this division. I look at this current squad, and although it is undoubtedly far more talented, I think we are lacking those type of players at present. Guediora would help recitfy that.

I think it's more of a case of being concerned that we might be heading into a season with a massively unbalanced squad for the 3rd season running. At the moment we have an embarrassment of riches in the midfield and we don't have a enough defenders to name a match day squad.

Personally I think we'll get it sorted before deadline day but we've been here before haven't we?

Well they should voice it as such instead of saying the board are useless etc. because we are signing a midfielder and not a defender (even though nobody knows what is actually going on, people will still believe the papers and blame the club). I agree that we have been in this situ before but I would hope, as many have voiced recently, that this is a new approach with Les as DOF so previous comparisons are somewhat defunct (unless you believe nothing has changed since Harold?). At the moment we are well stocked with midfielders but the club may have highlighted who they want to move on and thus need replacements. You cannot really analyse until the window shuts (and even then we can still loan players) but I believe that the club are working on defenders (hence the link to fredericks recently and Schorch on trial) and will fill the other positions once the key players move on (mainly for financial reasons). No need to panic really, just some people are missing their football fix over the summer and are very impatient. Happens every year.

Exactly, you've hit the nail on the head for me!!.... Im all for and tbf always have been very pro on 'give the youngsters a go' but we cant just overload with them, we need a good mix aswell (ie Mackie)... would be a very good signing imho.

Pre season though. I was impressed when he played for us last season. Good young player imo and has been with us long enough to finally deserve a proper chance.

Guedioura is a CM.

Chery is an attacking midfielder (number 10) who can also play on either wing

CR ideally wants two players for each position, I suspect. Plus it looks like he plans to utilise a variety of formations depending on the opposition.
