    Joey

Has come out and apologised for his "Idiotic" behaviour on ssn.
Said he was trying to protect the lad on debut from players screaming for a red. Nothing malicious just trying push players away.
Apologised in particular to the travelling Rs.

Doesn't really count for much now though. Having said that, I hope he's apologised to the other players as well.

Ah right Bruce said he didn't see the incident, but did go on to say, he wasn't sure if it was just playfulness gone wrong or maliciousness

Is he saying he didn't know what the intent was?

The commentators even said that according to reports from the touchline, joey was gonna get a red for the hand off he gave to one of the Hull Players who barged into him. If you get to see the incident, you will realise how bad that call would have been

A cheeky ball tickle is probably still out of line for the modern footballer unfortunately. I think it wouldn't have been a red many years ago, but he should know better than to do that, regardless of the innocence.

It's not about how violent it was.

It was about how irresponsible and stupid it was for him to do it. Again.

As for the rest of your post.....

                              Here's the interview I saw

QPR midfielder Joey Barton explains the reasoning behind his red-card against Hull City, and apologises to the travelling fans for his actions.
