I'm personally not that into Defoe being our savior. Had his share of injuries in recent years, in and out of Spurs team. Wrong age.

I think it's a sad indictment of our player recruitment expectations so much is pinned on signing him. Do we actually have any strategy going forwards on the pitch?

Well it is a gamble......wonder what we will be saying come may?.......Must admit that's a lot of money, think TF and the board are right in this instance

JERMAIN DEFOE has agreed a whopping £14million pay deal to return to English football with Sunderland.
The Black Cats will give hitman Defoe a 3½-year contract worth £80,000 a week in the hope he can fire the goals that will secure Premier League safety.

Good player but injury prone and a little older now, almost a year away from top flight football too

Can't be true, I never wanted him, even if he kicks it up there I wouldn't have any regrets, I think between, Rio, Sandro and Niko, Harry has used up his old boys injured cards. Oh, and that about £150k a week.

I would have wanted him to come but only until the end of the season, if he does well then take him on for 1 year more. No chance I would have taken him for 3.5 years on those wages when you look how much this has hurt us in the past, would rather go down than take more contracts like this on.
