agree with the last part Gary, still think £80,000 just too much for a club like us

I don't doubt Defoe's ability to score goals but the problem is, Sunderland don't create many chances and question marks over Defoe's fitness.

I'd have offered him no longer than an 18 month deal, with an option of a further year based on appearances.

Sunderland have blown every one out the water by offering him a huge wage and length of contract and only in 3 and a half years will people agree if it was a good move or not.

He'll get 4 or 5 goals in the first month and then be injured until the rest of the season.

Defoe was on a plate for us.... The chance to return to London, play under Harry, agreed to play for us last transfer window. If we (the board) wanted him we'd of had him at the start of the window...... £80k a week- shows the board have learnt something.

No more players who've played for Harry. Except Bale.....

Great signing for Sunderland, will prob keep them up.

Don't blame our board in the slightest for not stumping up the dough for him though, Redknapp has wasted huge money in wages on Rio, injury prone Sandro, Caulker who has been dire and Mutch who hasn't done f all.

I wonder how many times, if he keeps his job, Redknapp will mention how Sunderland have been lucky to get Defoe whilst poor old Harry has had to do with loans.

If he hadn't of wasted how many millions upon millions on people who can't get on the pitch, Mutch, Sandro, Ferdinand, Phillips maybe the funds would of been there eh Harry!

Not his fault though. No. Never.
