Don't know where Van Gal would play the Januzaj kid in 352. There's others like Mata ahead of him there. If we could have got him on loan he would be perfect in a no: 10 position for us if they could be persuaded to loan him. Really would be good for us I think.

The difference between Adel and the others is attitude.

Also the difference between now and under the Warnock era is everyone knew Adel could tear the Championship a new one, he can't do it at PL level. Warnock admitted in his book that he had to stop several players from giving Adel a slap on numerous occasions. Why would our current crop accept Adel not putting in the graft when he's a liability at this level anyway? They wouldn't and that's why he gets bombed out of every club.

Suspect a combination of 'Arry and Hoddle could get best out of Zaha although not that fussed either way on it. Blows very hot and cold. When hot though very good so could add something.

The only reason Warnock handled Adel was he let him do exactly what he wanted. That was never going to work in Premiership and nor should it. Various managers at club and international level have fallen out with Adel. I'm thinking the issue is more likely to be the player than the managers. Not the right sort. Not the right sort at all. I would go so far as to say a wrong 'un.

It's true there are similarities with Bowles. He too failed at a few clubs before pitching up at LR. Stan however was always a team player and bought into Jago and Sexton's philosophy. He was always super fit too, trained well and was popular with his team-mates. The same can probably said for the other maverick players mentioned in this thread like D1cks, Di Canio, Van der Vaart, Merson (before he lost it) etc. Adel doesn't fit under that category but that could simply because he's no longer happy at the club, and if he moved that attitude could change.

Agree with that but also they also performed at the top level. Adel has had one good season in the Championship but jury very much out on whether he can cut it in Premiership and that is being generous. Not much in three years so far.

Not convinced this is a good move....haven't seen many, if any, decent loans from United at all.

We're short on numbers though and we won't play 3-5-2 all season. By bringing in Zaha, we've got a lad who can play on either wing and even a floating role. A season long loan makes sense for me, just for more options rather than anything else.
