  • I think Remy fills a significant void in our squad - that of a proven Premier League goalscorer.

I also have no problem with him personally and am delighted that it looks as though he will play for us at least up until Christmas. My problem is with the contract but that has been discussed to death on other threads.

    • According to media reports, he's chosen us twice over Newcastle, that must stand for something.

        Yep.

As far as i can see, unless a CL team agrees terms with him he is staying.

He got some playing time out there and it is the pinnacle of most players' careers to do so.
Had he been at QPR from the start of that season snd put in the kind of displays that the likes of Cisse, Park Granero Hoilett SWP etc I would agree that he let the club down and as such had a moral duty to stay and put things right , but given that he only joined in January on the proviso that he would not have to play in the Championship, I repeat, he did nothing wrong.
I and many on here and at the club are more than happy to have a player of his ability to play for QPR even if it is only until January as that could be worth 15-20 points extra for the team.
How many points did QPR drop in 2012-13 season when the likes of Zamora Mackie and Cisse couldn't score in a brothel?

            • He is now with the team and provided he puts in an effort, I think we should all support him. I'm sure, as QPR fans, we will.

              • The Pop***** website was 'suggesting' this week that both him and Mr. Pardew are big fans of a certain country's powder that makes you march. Perhaps that's why the Liverpool move went t1ts up. Anyway, if he is back I would have no problem, always tried hard and is a terrific finisher, him and Charlie (pardon the pun) together would be great!

I seriously expected Remy to play for Queen's Park Rangers for the entirety of the contract he signed with us, yes.

That's quite naive given the 'stepping stone' remarks that were being used at the time, and the general feeling amongst the fans as I recall it.

                        Yes.

I thought that we all aware it was a shop window kind of exercise. i certainly wasn't holding out any real hope that he'd have stayed with us even if we'd stayed up, and certainly didn't expect him to be playing for us in the Championship.

He would have gone on relegation were it not for his personal problems I'm sure.

It's a lovely thought that clubs and players saw out their contracts with each other, but it's not how the game works, and I can't recall a time it ever did, certainly not in the last few decades.

                            Frankly, yes.

It's a nice ideal to hope for, but one I'm too cynical to imagine any football fan can seriously hold that opinion.

We didn't get Remy to sign, purely on a promise that we could fulfil his desire to play Champions League football, more that we gave him a chance to prove himself in the Premiership and make himself a smaller risk for one of the big boys.

Also, if he does see out his contract at QPR, we get no financial compensation when he leaves. Him staying till the end of his contract wouldn't be good for us either, in a purely financial sense at least.

That's not entirely true, if it's his goals which ensure our PL status.
