Totally agree. Rio will bring a lot to the squad aside from pure abilityOriginally posted by Del View PostHe could bring a huge amount to QPR, not just on the pitch but off it. He will have the utmost respect from any of the playing staff and the younger defenders will all learn and improve as a result of having him playing with them and training with them.
As for him not being the player he was, well no obviously, but at his best was arguably the best defender in world football. Even if 70% of the player he was, he'd still be a hell of a player for QPR. Him and Onouha would be a great pairing. Rio's brain and class with Nedum's pace and power.

If that's the case, would you be happy to pay him around the reported £80,000 a week and give him a 2/3 year contract?Originally posted by Shepherds Mush View PostTotally agree. The mirror seem to have gotten hold of all our dealings and released remys sliding cluase and saying rio is getting 30 to 40 k not 80.Originally posted by QPR Richard View PostIf that's the case, would you be happy to pay him around the reported £80,000 a week and give him a 2/3 year contract?

Ok, the reported sums vary. Would you hand him a 2/3 year contract?Originally posted by Shepherds Mush View PostWell its also been reported at £40k a week with bonuses for a year - which is a great deal in my book.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I thought we'd moved on from injury records as you've stated Rio's injury record is a myth and he's as fit as a fiddle.Originally posted by West Acton View PostDoes he not have a worse injury record then rio or on a par last few seasons?
Perhaps as probably Rio's biggest supporter on here, you would like to propose the length of contract he should be given.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

That's an interesting comment, and you've probably seen him play, certainly at international level, more than any of us.Originally posted by IsleworthRanger View PostMust admit I have always thought that Rio has scammed a living as a footballer and is/was possibly the most over rated player in the Premier let alone International football though I of course hope he does very well at QPR if he does signSupporting QPR isn't just about a football team. Just feel he has an awful first touch though not the be all and end all for a central defender of course and basically hoofs the ball away without any thought of distributing from the back and any pace he did have went a few years agoOriginally posted by QPR Richard View PostThat's an interesting comment, and you've probably seen him play, certainly at international level, more than any of us.

A 3 year deal for any player that age would clearly be ridiculous so what is the point in asking?Originally posted by QPR Richard View Post

Never heard anyone talk about Rio having a poor touch and being the type to just hoof it forward every time rather than play from the back. Shawcross yes, Ferdinand no. But respect your opinion as clearly seen him play in the flesh more than the rest of us.Originally posted by IsleworthRanger View PostJust feel he has an awful first touch though not the be all and end all for a central defender of course and basically hoofs the ball away without any thought of distributing from the back and any pace he did have went a few years ago

Football is all about opnions isnt it and many managers with far far more knowledge then me of course have considered him to be one of the worlds top players and paid very good money for himOriginally posted by Del View PostNever heard anyone talk about Rio having a poor touch and being the type to just hoof it forward every time rather than play from the back. If what we read that a one year deal is being offered then I would actually be fine with that as every club needs some experience to share with the younger players and I understand he has taken a lot of coaching badges which hopefully he can use to help us during the season
