Love faurlin but too slow for premier league. Think he will be back up anyway

First year before injury he had by far the best defensive mid stats in the league for what actually matters, ie tackles made, possession won etc. Then after injury he and Granero played blinders against top teams.

This. Can't believe that anyone could resent giving it a year to see if he can make it back, and it's certainly not just for sentimental reasons.

Agreed. Plus if the club has learned as it claims then there might well be a clause in there about fitness/ appearances. You have to laugh that some fans would apparently prefer to have Karl Henry or Gary O'Neil than Alejandro Faurlin.

You do enjoy "laughing" at fans don't you?...Do you not understand that a team needs different types of players to be successful?...Can't have a team of Taarabts you know, and they need to be fit

Yes I do get that Dave and I certainly wouldn't want a whole team of Adels. Of course you need battlers, too. But I think as an earlier poster pointed out Faurlin IF FIT is a fantastic tackler. And if we are to survive in the Prem we need whoever is our midfield battler to also be able to lay the ball off with reasonable accuracy once he has made the tackle. I don't want to sound like I'm picking on Henry or O'Neil particularly as they seem like decent, honest pros - I just don't think players like that have enough of an all-round game to make it in the modern Premier League while Faurlin if he has really recovered does.

Oh that's so not true, Del. One very good half against Spurs away- in a game we lost- and that was it from that midfield pairing. Let it never be forgot that Watrbs fave Faurlin played against MK Dons at home- alongside Granero!!- when we went 4-0 down against such class opposition. The blind leading the blind rather than playing blinders....

Lets see how many games or even how many minutes he plays in a year to see whether its just a sentiment contract or not. Hand on heart cant see him starting a single game in the premiership once we have strengthened our squad.

Rubbish. Their first game together was City away, which was Granero's debut, next up Chelsea at home and then Spurs away, all of which they played some great stuff, as said against top sides, proving the point Faurlin can cut it in the prem very comfortably.

For anyone who still thinks he's not prem standard, read this article written just before his injury in our first season. His general combative midfielder stats were fantastic and was only 2nd to Lucas in the prem for tackles won average / game, although had actually won more than any other player in total. His all round stats to accompany tackling were also strong and he was top for QPR in many areas. No real surprise our season plummeted without him.

So fantastic a midfield pairing we got one point out of the nine available in those games.... And one goal out of the two of them whenever they played. And when we went, ignominiously, out of of the cup against, er, MK Dons with them bossing the midfield. Great stuff indeed.

Yeah because everyone's betting slips would have us gettign loads of points agains City and Spurs away and Chelsea at home.... jeez. They played well and we as a team deserved more from those games.

The point was he was more than able to hold his own in the premier league, which some were saying he wasnt good enough for. Their partnership is irrelevant as Granero wont play again for us, but as for the MK Dons game, you talk like they were the only QPR players on the pitch accountable for the result....

Fair enough. We can't lose sight of the fact it was a shocking team (non)effort as opposed to laying it at the likes of Faurlin and Granero's door alone.
