Christ almighty, it's been like a ****** suicide watch for most of this season, and we're in the playoffs! Can you imagine the carnage on here from the usuals if we a) didn't sign anyone, and b) got beaten every week (which would happen if the OP idea took effect). A great example is us under Warnock. I've always thought we would've still stayed up had he stayed. Great team spirit, all down to him!!!!

Basically not add to the squad at all and take our chances with the current squad and players that remain under contract so we can bank the £100mil and go some way to reducing the debt

Would probably result in us getting pumped week in week out but would reward those that got us there with prem football in addition to allowing youngsters to be played at the highest level.

Is a trade off one a season of doom but reducing the debt considerably acceptable???

I would've thought the way to go is buy a few 3 maybe young energetic players mixed in with Joey, Clint Henry etc, that would be the best way to go, strengthening to give us a chance of bouncing back.
I just can't see us in the prem next year though

Rather than buy a load off useless French Africans and veteran mercenaries why not take £10-15 million and invest in 4/5 of the best players from lower leagues outside the PL. Basically do what teams use to do 15/20 years ago and put out faith in young hungry british talent. If we go down it will be fight and good team spirits.

You are not going to bring a host of academy players through into the first team squad when we are back into PL, its a nice thought and if we have 2 in the matchday squad next year that is a great return

So i am split
1.for the future good of the club i would agree that going up and banking the cash, getting a few hidings and in all probability going down, but, with our dignity intact

or

2. Do i go selfish short term and want to spend another day in the sunshine trying to mix it with the big boys at the cost of more millions of debt

If we get promoted, should we abandon all hope of staying up (by not attempting to strengthen the squad) for the sake of reducing our debt?

There is no way TF would do that anyway but it seems like a bad idea to me. That said, we also shouldn't break the bank trying to stay up.
