Having seen him bring in Doyle, Keane and Maiga, ( forgetting that Dellatore bloke as he was just a gamble or lined up to fail next season), it would appear that his judgement of strikers isn't one of his strong points.
IMO Zamora and Johnson would've been perfect at this level and probably a partnership that would've seen us with an unbelievable gaol difference record, had they both been 100% fit but they weren't and never were.

This is the point though Nick, isn't it? There was never much likelihood of it being the case. With another striker in the squad as opposed to a whole host of midfielders, they could have been used much more sparingly, giving them a chance to be somewhere close to full fitness before risking them and making matters worse.

I'm afraid that however one dresses it up, Harry will never escape the blame for this issue at least. Shame really.

5 years ago they could have played a big part at this level, but their fitness problems over the last few years made it blindingly obvious that they were never going to remain fit.

I seem to recall in pres-season, Redknapp wanted to have players who were willing and able to often play Tues & Sat. Well, that was never ever going to happen with those two. 2 full games a month for just one of them has proved to be almost impossible, let alone both often playing twice in a week.

And banking on Jermain Defoe, Harry thought we had him.

we did, by all accounts, until Levy stepped in.
But that would only have been a month's loan.

Yea that's my point brighton, I've said it a few times now that relying on these two so much was Harry's down fall. It was IMO his biggest mistake since being here. Had they both been fit I honestly think we would have walked this league, I really do. But like I've said before harry focked up by relying on them so much.

Exactly. Unfortunately Harry saw them for what they were not what they are.

The true problem dates back to no 2nd striker being bought last summer, which this poll doesn't have an option for.

But as far as January is concerned it was probably a combination of the poll's options, so it should really be a multiple choice.

Redknapp wasted time trying to sign players that were not interested in coming (Ntep, Belfodil) and when it panned out that they wouldnt be coming, Harry has wasted so much time and left himself with no plan B. thats my take anyway

I think they expected Zamora and Johnson to be fit.

I read today that a.j's got an ankle injury again, and no doctor in the world can work out why. Think hes played his last competitive football if im honest.

                              Bang on !!

We knew we needed at least one or preferably two strikers
Lots of time wasted on players who didn't want to come in, also Arry saying in the press he wanted to play with one striker which was obvious Austin that's not very inviting for others to join in.
                              Setting deadlines.Scouting etc etc
Now it felt all too similar to last January window, with the whole M'Vila saga.

A striker we should haved loaned or bought scored the winner for Doncaster last night; Billy Sharp. He wouldn´t have been that expensive, I guess.
