Check SkySports. Money is flying in for Crouch to join Qpr this morning. Odds have been dropped from 5/1 to 7/2. Does someone know something?

If i put a load of money on Lionel Messi to join QPR the odds are obviously going to drop on him actually joining QPR. Does that mean he will or I know anything?Originally posted by qprvoyager10 View PostCheck SkySports. Money is flying in for Crouch to join Qpr this morning. Odds have been dropped from 5/1 to 7/2. Why would you put money on Messi signing for Qpr? You could and odds would drop yes but no one would ever do that. Not going to throw money away. But people would throw money if they believe something or heard something. Thats normally how betting works. You should pop in every now and then, understand how it worksOriginally posted by SammyKojoe View PostIf i put a load of money on Lionel Messi to join QPR the odds are obviously going to drop on him actually joining QPR. fair point. i think those odds and books are more about getting free publicity than anything else and even a few small bets can make them fluctuate wildly even if it has no basis in reality. just think of how many "news" items and message board posts and whatever the bookies get out of varying odds on transfers and next managers etc getting people talking about betting helps increase their number of customers and therefore profit, because in the end the more customers and bets the more the bookmakers winOriginally posted by SammyKojoe View PostIf i put a load of money on Lionel Messi to join QPR the odds are obviously going to drop on him actually joining QPR. Yes just like how Defoe was favourite to join QPR for months because money went on it when in reality a deal was never close. Same with Yaan M'villa who went from 8/1 to 6/4 to join QPR after a load of money went on and that was not even close. It means very little in most cases yet people take a drop in odds as gospel or read into it when often nothing has even happened.Originally posted by qprvoyager10 View PostWhy would you put money on Messi signing for Qpr? You do realise a favourite in a horse race is only the favourite because he has the most money placed on him. Does not mean he is the best horse in the race.Last edited by SammyKojoe; 24-01-2014, 02:03 PM.

Think that might have been a hypothetical scenario mate....the poster was using it to illustrate his point!Originally posted by qprvoyager10 View PostWhy would you put money on Messi signing for Qpr? Very slight digression, but I remember that season when he played for us - it was quite something to watch him, like some kind of giant stork weaving in and out of defences with incredible ball control, but almost no ability to head the ball. He's progressed a little since then. Would welcome him back. Could be a fun end to the season.

Probably. I'm just giving people information. Take it how they want to see it. Rather say this is whats happening at the moment, rather than some on here who claim they have inside information that a certain player is signing.Originally posted by twranger View PostThink that might have been a hypothetical scenario mate....the poster was using it to illustrate his point!
