I responded to the general conversation about Barton's demeanour change being attributed (even if in part) to Harry, unfortunately this crappy forum only quotes the last post, rather than the conversation so far, so responses can seem a little out of context.

I don't think Harry playing Barton was a difficult decision for him, nor do I have any idea how Barton would have behaved if he hadn't been picked. No one can. Therefore to claim it as something to count in his positive column is grasping at straws a touch (no pun intended)

He has certainly done good things though, and as underwhelmed as I have been with Redknapp this season, he's still plenty good enough to take our squad to promotion, so don't see a reason to start demanding his removal.

This thread has certainly come a fair distance from taking the **** out of Karl Henry's passing hasn't it?

We will have to agree to disagree then. As obviously the man has to make his own choices, but Harry has had a part to play in Joey's reformation. I'm sure Barton has tweeted as much of his respect for Harry and desire to do well for him.

He may well have lost it again, but did Harry do anything different than any other manager would have done? If Hughes had still been here, he may have done it differently with all the previous between them, but beyond that?

So, if you disagree with my opinion, I should give it a rest?

I think Harry should be doing a little better with the squad and money he's had/has at his disposal. It is my opinion that we should be performing better, but.....

He is still doing enough for us to get promoted. I don't want him to leave.

He has not done anything with Joey that the vast majority of managers wouldn't have done (ie play him), with a player of his quality (at this level) so it's hard to give him too much credit in Joey's season so far. I'm not saying he hasn't helped by playing him, but it's not a decision that was a difficult one, or one that he has shown particular managerial guile
in making.

I do give Joey the credit for his improvement, he has exceeded my expectations so far. I still don't like him personally, and won't be disappointed if/when he leaves us. That's not to say he hasn't been one of our best players this season.

I don't see what is massively controversial about any of that. I understand that it differs from your take, but an embarassment? Don't see it.

Would love to know why henry played on saturday and yet 40.odd grand a week diakite did not even get a mention. I know he has had all sorts of problems since signing for us but why o why has he not featured when he has what none of our midfielders have? Power and pace! Personally would love to see him given a go with JB anchoring the midfield and even put young carroll in there as well. That would give us power, pace and also a bit more creativity as well. Three different types of player that could compliment one another.

I agree that Harry deserves credit for getting Joey in the team and playing well. I also think our squad looks pretty decent on paper. My concerns are more with the way we are playing and the direction that results are heading (they are getting worse, not better). Plus we've been turned over by both Burnley and Leicester so we are probably third best at best - and the playoff lottery looms - if results don't keep getting worse, that is!

West ham got "turned over" by Forest at the weekend. 0-1 and 0-2 isn't quite the same...

Have you forgotten just how much of a liability Diakite was? Bookings and sendings off left right and centre. Plus generally running around like a headless chicken a lot. I think its fair to say that he's still with us because no one else wanted him which says it all really.

I'd love him to come good but he's nowhere near the first team when he could have been given a chance so that probably tells you all you need to know...

Not forgotten but we now have a slower version of diakite playing every week and his name is gary o'neill! And if you think differently have a look at the challenge on new years day when 0-1 down where he volleys the man off the floor in his own area whilst already been booked!!!

Strawy the straw man does not make for good debates, because usually he is left to grasp at straws than address the point that was made.

I agree with Deep. Failry sure any new manager who came in would have wanted Barton to play, as he is clearly one of our better players. Wouldnt give Harry credit for this, would give barton credit.
