Well what I heard was that we have had talks and things look good as long as spurs sign the players they want which is more than half way done pushing Defoe out of contention. But after the 2 goals have to admit it doesn't look likely.

Defoe scoring 2 goals last night makes naff all difference to anything. Spurs were 5 nil up from the first leg in a second rate competition. It's a bit like us playing Jenas in that game against Swindon the other night.
If AVB continues to add players, the little prospect Defoe had of being a starter, let alone a regular one at Spurs becomes less by the day. He will want out and then, you have to assume that a bunch of PL clubs will come knocking. The question then is whether he wants to move away from London. Except maybe Arsenal will come calling - because they seriously need a striker or two - and West Ham who would want him if they could release enough wages off their current bill
