A question for the righteous board members. Let's say Defoe ended up down here. Now I'm not saying he will and it's obviously very very unlikely he will for all the obvious reasons. But just in case, let's say the only reason he would sign would be because of Harry. That to me says he wants to play for the manager, not the Club. How would that fit with the ethical stance adopted regarding mercenaries and the like (just thinking of the quotes regarding players like Parker/Hooper - stuff 'em if they don't want to play for Rangers etc).
Just curious to know what people feel. And before anyone says it won't happen in a million years, I'm inclined to agree but as Dazzer mentioned, Bellamy broke the mold not so long back.

Wouldnt be surprised to hear we make a loan bid for Defoe if no-one pays the asking price Spurs have put him up for. Can see West Ham getting him though.
