  • Relegation Candidates signings

So far i have seen a few really big signings from teams in the relegation battle last season:
Southampton - Dejan Lovren, Tandari Lee
Aston Villa - Jores Okore, Leandro Bacuna, Aleksander Tonev
Sunderland - Mobido Diakite, Cabral, Duncan Watmore
Fulham - Riether (permanent), Derek Boateng, Fernando Amorabieta, Maarten Steklenburg
Norwich - Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Javier Garrido (permanent)

This for me is the true cost of relegation because had we stayed up, I reckon we could have had a chance with a few of these players and most of them would have benefited the squad a lot more than most of last seasons signings. Of these people, who would you take over the rest of our squad HAD WE STAYED UP?

That Diakite's old dear has a few kids don't she. They must have just fallen out of her towards the end, no pushing required.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Not worth thinking about as we are where we belong.

None of those apart from the fulham keeper are really big signings. they are all a gamble. and hadthey been signed by us they probably would have been labeled useless or money grabbing mercenaries or lazy french africans before they had even played 2 games. anyone who signs for us is on a hiding to nothing!

Saints signed Lovren for 7mil and Norwich got Van Wolfswinken for 8.5mil. BUt everyone hates on us cos we got Cesar and Boswinga in on free's!

Yes I know, salaries etc but these players wont be on 5k a week will they.

              Hypocrites, the lot of em.

The twitter rumours and " worth a punts" for feasible targets are too numerous at this time of year anyway, without considering hypothetical ones.:rage:

To be honest i would disagree with the first. I think Okore, Lovren, Diakite and amorabieta seem the most likely to work out. I actually think the keeper is a bit off and hasnt been the same since the world cup. But the point I was trying to make is that alot of these were either free transfers or cheap (bar 1 or 2 'big names') and many of them are just about to hit their prime. I do agree though that had we signed them, people would have said the opposite and that they want one last payday before they retire

But none of them are in our league? Relegation candidates in my eyes are Barnsley, Huddersfield and Yeovil!
