k well if he stays he will most probably be the most expensive and well paid Championship defender in history so lets hope he starts the season fully fit and warrants the money and a place in our starting eleven.Originally posted by qpr4life View PostBased on the Samba we inherited in the Prem for the price we paid... We got ripped off!! He wasnt worth 12 million.
Is he a bad player? Im not sure, I still believe that 10 games doesnt make a player.
I still feel he is a good player and can do a job in the prem.
Im not sure hes going anywhere, because as you said... Who will pay even 8million for him now?

Although he will be on a sh1t load still, im sure he has had to take a pay cut since we got relegated.Originally posted by vblockranger View Postk well if he stays he will most probably be the most expensive and well paid Championship defender in history so lets hope he starts the season fully fit and warrants the money and a place in our starting eleven.
If not, then its pretty dodge to think he is earning that much in that league

No player on more than £65k is what TF said
Fernandes wants costly Samba to be key in Championship with QPR... and insists no player earns over £65k a week at the club
By Andy James
PUBLISHED: 00:00, 3 May 2013 | UPDATED: 00:01, 3 May 2013
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes thinks it would be 'fantastic' to build a team around Christopher Samba in the npower Championship next season.
The towering centre-half made a big-money move to Loftus Road in January and many presumed he would be one of the first to leave this summer following relegation from the Barclays Premier League.
But Fernandes is confident the club can hold onto the former Blackburn man and has revealed that Harry Redknapp is due to speak with the defender on Friday.
When asked how realistic the chances of keeping Samba are, Fernandes told London Call-In: 'I think it's very real.
'I haven't had a chance to speak to Chris since (relegation) and I think Harry is sitting down with him tomorrow.
'We want players who want to play for us. I think the days of bringing in players because of their reputation, their name and they're just coming to QPR for the salary are gone.
'We want to have players who want to play for us, who are excited by walking down that tunnel and going to play for us.
'We're under no pressure now to just keep players so if Chris wants to stay with us, if he believes in what the club can do, then I'd love him to be one of the pivotal points of the Championship side.
'But if he doesn't feel that this is right for him then I don't want to force him to stay and I'd rather get someone who gets excited going out there.
'But Chris would be a tower in the Championship and it would be fantastic to build a team around him.'
There has been speculation that Samba would be a financial burden to the club in the Championship with rumours around the time of his arrival that the defender was on £100,000 a week at Rangers.
Fernandes moved to quash those that at the time and has now revealed that no player at the club is on upwards of £65,000 a week.
'I can't say it in enough languages and enough times that I did the deal, no-one else,' he said. 'And he took a pay cut to come to QPR and that is fact.
'There is no £100,000 salary. I said on national TV today, our top salary was 65 (thousand). Chris took a pay cut.'

Dave....£100k or £65k makes no difference as a player of the calibre of Samba isnt worth anywhere near that. Dont forget the £12 million fee on top of his wages which at £65k a week is £260k a month (Over £3 million for every year he has been given a contract! 4 year did he get?). We have massively overpaid whether Fernandes insists his wages in £35k lower a week or not. Michael Dawson was a £9 million fee and £60k a week wages (before the move broke down) and is three or four times the defender that Samba is. Samba will do fine up against the big physical old fashioned Centre forwards but gets turned inside out against anyone with pace.Last edited by vblockranger; 10-06-2013, 02:46 PM.

Yea TF came out and said at the time that hehad a relegation clause to reduce wages.Originally posted by qpr4life View PostAlthough he will be on a sh1t load still, im sure he has had to take a pay cut since we got relegated.

He joined us on £60k a week, so I would imagine his pay cut would take him down to £50k or sumit equally measly. Poor sod.You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

people have short memories. AT's midfield goals contribution got us up last time so ditching him now wouldn't make sense. He finds that extra yard of space below prem level.
Derry and Hill are a gamble, a sane club without debt would use this as an opportunity to start bringing youngsters through even if that means not reaping immediate benefit. I hated the idea of Johnson and Zamora before that fvckin genius brought them over (and said so), FFS get rid ASAP. The dead wood must go, even if it costs us. But we don't do long term thinking down the Bush, Harry is a wheeler dealer and not a development manager. Personally I would've ditched him, he isn't long term either. Olly would have come back when Hughes left, but of course grandiose ideas at board level meant that proper candidates didn't get a look in.

that's as maybe but I don't think he wants to stay, don't think Harry really wants and is his attitude condusive to a good team morale?
I also think his self obsessed attitude is destructive to the team. He has to take corner, throws, free kicks. Very childish.
We had the best of him 3 years, time to get rid
