We are actually going backwards and have made zilch headway in the last 20 years. Am I imagining it but did'nt we have so much more talent in the 70's, where did it all go wrong?
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross
I must be guided without a stumble

To be honest, I would like us to buy Marcus Perdersen, our very talented striker. 23 years of age and one for the future. He terrorized the english defence with Caulker and Smith amongst them.

Trevor Brooking is a relic of the game with no fresh ideas and Stuart Pearce is just a gormless yes man.

Future of the game is ducked for another two generation.

I watched the Italy game, it was awful, connor wickham up front , embarrassing. They were lumping it long, had no possession. The only excuse was that there were players missing, Sterling,Zaha, Rodwell, Chamberlain etc.

This Norway game was a joke, Pearce must go he has failed with the 21s now for to long.

It's not surprising though is it? Apart from 1 world cup what has England ever done on the international stage? Only once in a blue moon do we produce a player with any natural ability (I've only ever seen Gazza in my life time), before that maybe Hoddle? That's the problem with English football we don't seem to appreciate that sort of player. If you work your b0lloxs off and run around a lot you're seemed good enough! We have that problem at QPR, we have one player with bags of ability in Adel but people moan about him etc, but the people that moan about him will be raving about Mackie. The only reason why the premiership is as good as it is, is because of the foreign talent we have playing here. If you name the top 10 or 20 outfield players in the premiership none of them will be English imo. As a nation we are a million miles away from the likes of Germany, Spain, even bl00dy Belgium now! We all need to face it that we will not compete at the business end in a major tournament for at least another 20-30 years, imo we are at the same level as Ireland, Scotland, etc.

Martin Samuel raises some very good points regards how we, as a nation, seem to view the importance of u21 football in comparison to other nations:

In England, we prefer the fast-track, the hype, exaltation and deflation. It would not occur to the FA hierarchy that Jack Rodwell might have been better off playing a minimum of three group games in a fiercely competitive climate, rather than seven minutes of a friendly in Brazil.

The full national team have a pathetic and pointless friendly in which they include Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones and Jack Rodwell, when these players would have massively improved the u21s.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
