My views on Diakite are that a potential gem is unlikely to make it at QPR, which is a shame. His failings are not a sign that all 'sub saharan Africans' are the same.
The annoying thing is, there are a lot of African players in the PL now, and to be honest are that many of them that good? They all seem to demand ridiculous money for what a lot of thine I see as pretty average players, and then every other year they all bugger off to play in the ACN leaving their clubs to just get on with it.

The top ones granted are superb but on the whole I don't think they're as good as what they demand money wise.

Diakite did have potential. We all thought that, but hes been the 1 player I really have been disappointed with more than any other, and for that reason, I won't miss him.

Bad news, Diakite's a great player.

I wouldn't go that far, but I think he has the potential to be one. He's still only 24 and has had a tough year with what's been going on back in Mali. Gives the impression of being a likeable character with a good attitude as well, which makes me think with the right senior players around him and strong coaching he could turn into something special.

That about sums up my opinion on him, it's too bad because he did briefly show great potential late last season but too many issues with this guy and more often than not looked like a red card waiting to happen!

What now? Can we not criticise a player if he's African? Stone me, it's like a dictatorship.

I suppose you think Diakites been a valued member of the team this year?

Good assessment W12, but I would have used a stronger word than a peanut!
You can criticise African players to your heart's content. You just can't criticise them for BEING African. Big difference.

Isn't that footballers, not just African footballers? Barton was supposedly on 60,000 a week. Did he earn that?

It is to a certain degree, but baring 1 or 2 shoddy performances on Bartons behalf over a career lasting a good few years, he has been a good player.

Mbia? Can you say he's technically a professional footballer? Can he play football any better than an average player from this country in the NPC?

                  I don't think so.

Diakite? The same. Is he that much better than an English midfielder?

There seems to be a mis conception that by buying an African player your getting some sort of bargain, yet for me they do on far too many occasions flop.

                        Translation

This season Samba Diakite has played only 14 matches for QPR. The midfield player from Mali has not been able to convince Harry Redknapp of his ability.

During an interview with France Football, the former Nancy player indicated that it was time for him to leave the Hoops, who have already been officially relegated to the Championship (English second division), the issue is “To stay, and perhaps not play, a little
surprising to me that the manager makes this choice. Under these conditions I do not want to stay” he indicated. On the question of where he could restart his career, he suggested that there were a few enquiries. “A few from England, Germany and Turkey. At the moment there is nothing definite. I know that the club will not be against my departure. We will see if a club comes in to transfer him from Loftus Road.

This is basically saying that the club doesn't want him, not that he wants to leave the club.

As in post above, club does not want him and has not played him....so he wants to leave. I'm not sure you can call that jumping the sinking ship, he's being pushed.
I am getting pretty disillusioned with the club and Harry if we are getting rid of him. He's young, raw but he has potential. We should at least try to work with him. We're not going to get much money for him anyway. Who are we left with in central midfield....Derry......Jenas....maybe Faurlin. We're hardly inspiring. We should be working with these younger players who do seem to have talent rather than just getting rid of them at sign of trouble. We'll end up with some of Harry's players on big wages and end up in league 1 at this rate.

I thought Diakite was ok, when he was on loan he looked decent going forward, I liked him.

I think it is a shame it didn't work out for him, but if we get a reasonable fee I would let him go as I imagine his wages are sky high.
