    Sir Alex Retires!

Mental. The bloke has been in charge there since before I was even a bulge in me old man's pants.

Personally reckon Moyes will take over, but would love to see Mourinho go there just to spite those Chelski mugs giving it the old "come home Jose".

Crazy news! Greatest manager in my life time. Is this the start of United becoming a Liverpool now? For me they have to go with Mourinho, that job would be to big for Moyles (even though I also think he will get it).

Well this is going to be weird. United without Fergie.

Hats off to him though for what he's achieved there. One of the all-time greats.

I think the whole timing of the thing points to them trying to hijack Chelsea for Mourinho, although Moyes would be the better man for the job I think. Im not sure Mourinhos way really fits with United?

Yeah Moyes has had a surge of bets on him to be there next season over the weekend, seems nailed on doesn't it.

Don't like Ferguson much, but have huge amounts of respect for him. Premier League won't be the same without him.

Like him or loathe him, what he's done at Man Utd is nothing short of legendary. Greatest manager in my lifetime bar none.

Incredible manager. Like him or not, deserves the upmost respect for him achievements in the game.

Robson; this next gaffer will be a huge huge decision for Utd - will be the decision that answers your question, the wrong choice and they could well be the next Liverpool. Personally though, can't see it, reckon they will still be a force for years to come.

Had to happen at some point I guess but still stunned.

Always imagined they would have to carry him out of OT, that he would be in charge of United that long.

Certainly end of an era for them and I dont think we will ever see his like again.

And Moyes, nailed on to takeover imo.

Fergie's record speaks for itself. Fantastic achievement.

I would love to see Mclaren or Hughes take over now!
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Amazing manager. I think Mourinho will replace him, and also bring Ronaldo back to Man Utd.

Yea personally think it'll be Moyes, have reckoned that for a few years now tbf.

Although does make me wonder if they've annoucned this now with the Mourinho to Chelski rumours growing in strength so as to not miss their man. I would absolutly love it (Kevin Keegan style) if Mourinho pied off Chelski for Utd though

I'm sure the new gaffer will be announced sooner rather than later, with Utd undoubtedy already having made contact with them - no way would they have annoucned Fergie going without something being in place, even preliminarily.

No way the Glazers will pay compensation for Mourinho. Moyes is out of contract, not to mention like I said a huge surge of betting for him over the weekend to be next Man U manager.

Maybe the #### kissing Mourinho did after the United game was out of respect for Ferguson, as he knew it was his last chance of Euro glory?
