I was tending to agree with the Samba bit of the post, also agree with you that a wholesale clearout would be a massive undertaking fraught with risk.
To be honest, Would've been different if we had them and they were playing. Gabbidon was at fault for some of their goals, whereas Gorkks/Connolly would probably have not been. Routledge was up there with Adel as our best players towards the end of the season, instead we had Bothroyd playing. Also Helguson was injured!
But this was under Flavs reign and Gorkks was sold to buy DJ because Flav was prepared to let us sink back to where we came from, and we lost Routledge to Swansea by then too
