any penalty that i have taken in the past i blazed it down the middle though and scored more often than not.

We always seem to miss penalties so didn't surprise me it was missed....when the oppo get a pen the penalty spot seems like it's on the goalline yet when we get a penalty the spot seems like it's on the halfway line!

Smashiing a pen down the middle is hardly a fool proof technique. What he should've done, and Adel anainst Norwich, is to play where they did fine, but put some disguise in your body shape ffs. Extend your left arm as if you would to hit it to the left then open the foot up and slot bottom right.
