Like you said Adel's a massive opinion divider and some will love him and some will hate him. And sometimes its best to just leave it at thatOriginally posted by maidstone_hoop View PostHe probably as used up all his 9 lives in all fairness. With adel its a opinion thing and down to the manager tbh. Some will love him some will hate him. I honestly dont think adel in a squad of 25 players who are pretty much all together would be to much of a problem. Adel in a squad of 25 where we have 5 or 6 bad eggs is another story all together. I think hes the type of lad who is easily influenced good or bad.

Probably, but with his ability any manager would have setup the team around him if it meant we'd tear the league a new one. We'd probably still be in the championship otherwise. Even the best of players need accomodating if it means benefiting the teams chances of success. Players getting special treatment isn't always bad thing.Originally posted by Nick View PostBut that one season where he played fantastically the whole team was structured around him.... how do you think he would've done had he just been treated like any other footballer? Sure he probably would've scored a few good goals and done a couple of great tricks but at the end of the season he would've been about average."When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

Spot onOriginally posted by stationcafe View Postthe reality is no one here (to my knowledge) knows him or what he's actually like.
he has had bad episodes in his past but the way QPR have been run has been an absolute joke at times. he's young and ambitious and has shown at Milan that he's willing to knuckle down when needed. he's also twice the player of anyone we've got so it makes sense to hold on to him.
it is easy to blame a few 'bad eggs' when the team is doing shite, but that's an easy excuse for the managers/coaches IMO. we got relegated because the players/management/coaches weren't good enough, not cos some 23 year old turned up late for training."When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

Yeah I agree we probably would have still been in the championship if it had not been for him.... but the premiership is no division to be building a team around someone like Adel. One attitude slip up from him and we'll get punished big time!!Originally posted by SuperHoopNik View PostProbably, but with his ability any manager would have setup the team around him if it meant we'd tear the league a new one. I have stayed out debate so far but cannot agree with that as we have just got out the Championship without him input so cant assume we would not have the first time around. This time last year people were saying we had no chance of getting promoted unless we kept him well look what happened!!!Originally posted by SuperHoopNik View PostProbably, but with his ability any manager would have setup the team around him if it meant we'd tear the league a new one. The best players don't need accommodating look how hard the likes of Messi, Ronaldo and dare I say it Suarez work off the ball how professional they are in their preparation etc and compare to Adel. They are truly world class players who do their job with and without the ball. Players, regardless of ability, who are lazy need accommodating

Posters need to look at the playoff home leg v Wigan when the players went into a huddle. We have got a team on our hands here now and i for one do not want to lose that
because of one player, no matter who it is, if there is a chance the spirit could be wrecked

I don't recall anyone saying we had no chance of getting promoted without Adel. Care to show some posts where people said this?Originally posted by West Acton View PostI have stayed out debate so far but cannot agree with that as we have just got out the Championship without him input so cant assume we would not have the first time around. I do recall people saying we are shite and have no creativity. And that was pretty much spot on.

I think people read way too much between the lines. As if Adel, a 25 year old guy, can poison the minds of grown up men in the dressing room to the extent that all the team spirit is lost because of just him? Honestly!Originally posted by QPRDave View PostPosters need to look at the playoff home leg v Wigan when the players went into a huddle. Well we've got a decent set of players now that were able to get us up, thanks to Harry's reputation. But take Adel out of Warnock's team and we wouldn't be half as good as what we were. It's possible we could have gone up without him but it would have been a lot harder.Originally posted by West Acton View PostI have stayed out debate so far but cannot agree with that as we have just got out the Championship without him input so cant assume we would not have the first time around. Dave, he was part of the group and the core of our promotion team in the prem, seemed to frustrate certain players at time but it also seemed he was respected and as I said, part of the group. Highly doubt he caused that much disruption to wreck up the team spirit.Originally posted by QPRDave View PostPosters need to look at the playoff home leg v Wigan when the players went into a huddle. Agree with that. Also, if there was animosity towards him, it was probably Warnocks fault because by his own account he used to let him get away with stuff in training. Imo, Adel was at his best under Hughes, who made him put a shift in during training and in games and he looked a changed player, performing better and tracking back as well. That final month or so when he scored against Spurs and Arsenal and we had a run of 5 home wins on the bounce he was excellent.Originally posted by SuperHoopNik View PostDave, he was part of the group and the core of our promotion team in the prem, seemed to frustrate certain players at time but it also seemed he was respected and as I said, part of the group. Yep, well said. Adel had a fantastic run under Hughes. In that Spurs game he was tracking back so diligently he effectively ended up as a left-back as Walker was pushing so high up.Originally posted by Del View PostAgree with that. People have such a selective memory with Adel, and hold him to such ridiculously high standards. If he didn't play like David Silva, every single week, he was apparently a failure. Sigh.
