Not me I'm ashamed I voted yes back in 1975. If I'd voted no we would have been spared 40 years being run by dictators. Last time we followed the status quo. This time we learnt from our mistakes and didn't. Also I can't understand why people are saying this will spoil our friendship with the EU. We haven't actually been great friends and it will probably improve our relations because there won't be arguments every time they want to change something that we don't want. I have had endless arguments with my French friends about the EU, though recently they have begun to agree with me.

Please don't go back to labelling anyone who voted remain 'leftie'. Millions of 'lefties' voted to leave and millions of 'righties' voted to remain. I really find this kind of name-calling misleading, unhelpful and unnecessary. What is needed right now, more than anything, is for people to come back together. A vote to leave the EU, is, ironically, the last thing those who profit from this endless divide and rule agenda wanted. It's time to think beyond the petty tribalism and cultism of 'right' and 'left' and think instead of simply what's best for the people of this country. We need to set an example to the rest of the world. Something our politicians have significantly failed to do so far. So let the lead come from the people instead.Originally posted by gaza09 View PostNope, why should we?
I voted out with 17 million others and will never regret it now jog on to bed you silly little leftie
The referendum has happened and the majority have made the decision. I find it pointless and counterproductive for the remainers to continue to agitate for this to be overturned. The remainers are being manipulated into believing they have the moral high-ground. That is all part of the divide and rule agenda. People need to wake up. This is but our very first taste of democracy. As the political parties disintegrate, I hope we can see that the whole idea of 'parties' which are in point of fact tantamount to cults, is redundant. The only party we need right now is a practical party, to ensure the smooth transition from EU member to sovereign country and then to enact policies that come not from ideology, but from fair minded common sense.

Whilst I agree with you to get people to stop the pathetic name calling I feel your analysis is naive and flawed. The political process is all about ideology, the governments that transformed the UK, like Atlee's in 1945 and Thatcher's in the eighties achieved what they did because they had an ideological basis ,it's what drove on their agenda whether you agreed with them or not. It's how change happens in any society. The political parties are not disintegrating, they are going to change/split in response to the current situation. The problem with what you say is that who decides what is ' fair minded common sense'? When we choose how we want our society organised ,we do so from a myriad of choices, what is fair to UKIP is light years away from the parties of the left would want. To deny that goes against the grain of the whole democratic process, perhaps a start in reinvigorating that, would be a parliament elected by PR so a parties numbers at Westminster was in proportion to the national vote.Originally posted by Hubble View PostPlease don't go back to labelling anyone who voted remain 'leftie'. The use of the term lefties shows just how the media has manipulated the public over the years.
Traditionally the left stood up for the working man and the right for the upper classes. Now anything to the left is labelled the loony left thereby pushing things like workers rights to the bottom of the queue and working class supporting the right side of politics!
Traditionally the loony left used to be say the all out socialists and that was about it.
In terms of the vote the lies of the Leave campaign came out very soon after the vote. The £350m to the NHS, the likely outcome on immigration being minimal as is the impact on sovereignty in real terms. Add to that it has become clear the main players (Johnson, Farage, Gove and Leasdom) were in it for their own advancement and you have to question if they had any commitment to the 'cause.' Were there another vote I suspect the result would be very different. Should have been left for Parliament to make an informed decision. That's what they are paid to do. Putting it to a public vote on such a complex issue was plain daft.
