The view I had made the situation look perilous. We were pushed up the field and their winger was free and unmarked with a direct run on our goal as the ball was played out to him. I said to my mate ####, Mbengue has to make this tackle or clear him out or we're stuffed.
The problem was how much space their guy had and the ground Mbengue had to cover. It's impossible to sprint 10yds, come to a dead stop and "jockey' the player. It was a shitorbust moment and I don't think it was as mad or reckless as it looks on a zoomed in TV feed which gives the impression this was a pointless challenge near the touchline.
Look, it wasn't good but the idea that moment cost us the game is a deflection from a very poorly handled 90mins and a lot of dumb/naive play in added time from several players.

Agree to a certain extent abs, imo JS lacks a plan b it’s same formation regardless of subs made sometime we just need another in midfield and go 4-5-1 or 3-5-2

playing smyth out on the left a complete waste of time replace him for dembele or other way round on the right

only thing is we all know what mbengue is like all pace not much else im not going to tear him a new backside I personally don’t rate him but he gives 100% and can’t ask for more than that

I for one cannot wait to see Edwards playing right back instead of that red card waiting to happen Mbengue.
I know he's quick, i know he works hard but at best he's a league one player. I've just seen the red card incident.
The bloke was on the halfway line and he dives in like he's through on goal! Beggers belief.
