I see this game as tougher than Stoke. I think Oxford will score so we will need to be ruthless and clinical with the 2 or 3 chances we will create. With all due respect to Oxford, we can't be going there and ceding 70% possession to them - we have to be more dynamic, win the midfield battle and take the game to them. This letting the home team have the ball and inviting them onto hasn't been working well for us for several away games now so we have to change it up.

I don’t think we’ll have any of the injured lot back so it will be interesting who he starts with.
I’m guessing;
Field will come in for Hayden, Morgan for Dembele who will be rested in my opinion and ‘possibly’ Edwards in for Cook as 2 away games in 4 days for Cook will be a huge ask.
Let’s hope the likes of Vale and Varane are fit enough to be on the bench to give us more options.
I just hope he doesn’t go for wholesale changes and start with Esq, Bennie and Adamson etc

We have the players to beat them , it's whether or not he picks them and they get up for the game or just turn up and go through the motions ....
How badly do they want to win , do they believe they can make the play offs ...
Ox work hard and we have to match them

TBF these players haven't been strolling around the Caribbean. It's pretty mild and calm for this time of the year so perfect conditionsOriginally posted by SheepRanger View PostWet and wild day where I am. Its not going to look pretty if it's the same weather in Oxford. Its going to be a battle of those who want it the most.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I think JS is more in credit than debt at this point but I'm still unsure about how good he is motivating the players for unglamorous trips t0 teams like Oxford on a grim January evening. Is all well and good putting a shift in at the sexy London Stadium but it's these bread-and-butter EFL games that matter.. he needs to foster a mentality that we have 19 cup finals in 4 months to win. We are beyond the point where trite excuses like "poor day at the office" or "just forget and move onto the next game" are acceptable. NO: we fight for every second and every inch in every game must be the mantra. Anyone not on board with that gets dropped.

Yeah, hes back from African Cup.Originally posted by LordLoftus View PostIs Smith the South African defender?
Trying to picture who else it could be if not.
Good to see Vale back on the bench.
Not sure if agree with Kone staying on the pitch and Kolli coming off, but we shall see.
For me, big eyes on Esquardinha because I'm not sure hes quick enough for this level of football. Or, hes got himself exposed from poor positioning.
