In Juliens pre match interview said that Edwards hadn’t played for 2 months and hasn’t trained for 2 weeks and isn’t ready, maybe against Oxford but not against Stoke

Ronnie has to start for me,will be a tough game up there and we always looked a better side for him being in it. Bit of new blood can’t be a bad thing. It’s getting to that point in the season when we make a last good push for playoffs or settle for mid table. You Rrrrrs

This article primarily about Saito's injury suggests maybe not:Originally posted by Abseits View PostDo we chuck Edwards straight in? The only issue would be him not being up to speed in terms of JS and his methodologies maybe.
QPR's Saito out for at least a fortnight - West London Sport https://share.google/cyVxTcZo2IIWcFwV0

The cynic in me thinks two great performances in a row might be a tad optimistic

If all those above are out/injured I'd be inclined to play a very negative/defensive set-up to strangle the game and frustrated Stoke, a 4-5-1 with 4 of that 5 probably being Madsen, Hayden, Morgan and Bennie with Smyth or Field being the 5th.
There's also the option of leaving Cook in at CB and sitting Edwards in midfield in front of the CBs maybe?
As ever with JS you get the feeling he'll have one eye on the next couple of games and be resting players.... well that's possibly acceptable with 25 fit decent players available but given we're down to the bones we can't fanny around rotating/resting players really, there's none to rotate to!

I thought so too, which means I see Kolli on the wing, lone striker up front, and Morgan or Field coming in and pushed further forward a little.

Isn’t Dembele injured?Originally posted by 3London View Postteam kind of picks itself as we have very little left.
Walsh (or whoever it stops on the Goalkeeper Merry go around)
Mbengue
Dunne
Edwards
RND
Hayden
Madsen
Smyth
Dembele
Kone
Kolli
Subs
Nardi / Hamer
Field
cook
Esquerdiera
Bennie
Morgan

If you have ever watched Micheal Mcintyres show the wheel how they pick the contestants on that is how i imagine JS picks the goalkeeper each week.
Walsh probably has earned the right to Keep his place after his performance at the weekend

Would have fancied us if it wasn’t for our horrendous injury list which looks like the following will all be out;
Burrell
Poku
Chair
Dembele
Saito
Varane
JCS
Vale
Defensively we look better placed with Edwards joining so maybe we can scrape a 1 nil win or even a bore nil
nil would be ok

Stoke City v QPR | Match Thread
Saturday 17th January, 3pm
Well the surprisingly agreeable and generally uplifting dalliance with this year's FA Cup is now over so it's back to the meat and potatoes of the EFL and what better way to come back down to earth than visit Stoke's bitterly cold Bet365 stadium/roundabout/junction.
I imagine the blue and white army will experience several thousand "deserters" from last week's campaign and the usual 1500ish will make their way North for this skirmish.
Stoke are part of that clutch of about 12 teams eyeing up 6th spot. They had a better Christmas than us (who didn't!?) so currently sit in 8th spot on 40pts. We're 11th on 38pts.
So we can leapfrog them with a win but we cannot make 6th this weekend. I think that second bit is significant given how we lose EVERY game that would see us crash the top 6 - rather than treating it as a duel for the play-offs we can call it a midtable clash instead and not get crippled with nerves.
If we can maintain the approach from the West Ham game, that is 100% commitment, concentration and effort, I think we can pick up 3pts. But, with so many limp half-hearted showings blotting our copy book this season it's not exactly a given that we will actually put a collective shift in. It's therefore a difficult one to call....Tags: None
