Leicester City set for double attacking injury boost for QPR but six players missing
The latest Leicester City injury news ahead of their trip to Marti Cifuentes' former club, with victory potentially putting them in the play-off spots at Christmas
Leicester City will lose one attacking player but hope to get two back for their trip to QPR this weekend.
Patson Daka has played his final game for the club until after the Africa Cup of Nations, the striker getting set to link up with Zambia ahead of their first match of the tournament against Mali next Monday. But both Jeremy Monga and Aaron Ramsey could be back in contention for the game at Loftus Road, where City boss Cifuentes takes on his former side.
Monga has missed the last three City matches with a slight muscle injury, meaning he’s played just 10 minutes across the club’s last nine fixtures. However, the winger is due back in training this week and so will hope to build up his fitness in time to make the trip to the capital.
Ramsey, meanwhile, has been absent for City’s last nine matches after pulling up with a hamstring injury in the defeat to Millwall in late October. It initially seemed that Ramsey may not play again this calendar year, but he was back in full training last week and with another few days of work at Seagrave under his belt, he could be back in the squad on Saturday. In the few games before his injury, Ramsey had perhaps been City’s star man, scoring twice in the draw with Portsmouth and defeat to Hull.
But the attacking midfielder may struggle to get his place in the team back immediately with Bobby De Cordova-Reid in fine form, the Jamaica international scoring in City’s last three games.
Harry Souttar may also be getting close to a return from his long Achilles injury after taking part in training over the past few weeks, but no indication has been given that he would be able to play as soon as this weekend. It's not expected he will be involved. Daka and Souttar are among six players set to be absent. Boubakary Soumare, Caleb Okoli and Victor Kristiansen are all missing through knee injuries and won't take part in Saturday's game.
It would also be a surprise if Harry Winks was recalled. The midfielder has been left out of the matchday squad for the past three matches in a “technical decision” that does not bode well for his future at the King Power Stadium beyond January.
