Probably the first game Warbs got wrong in a while tactically with a bizarre team selection but to give him credit he corrected it early and reaped the rewards.

You just knew he was going to change the side due to injuries and fatigue, I think a couple of players let him down and in fairness they may not have been suited to what we were trying to do, as you say good for him to not waste time in changing things up before this match got out of reach! A great recovery from the players and manager to rescue a valuable point!Originally posted by stainrodisalegend View PostProbably the first game Warbs got wrong in a while tactically with a bizarre team selection but to give him credit he corrected it early and reaped the rewards.@gatorTFC

Similar to last season, pressed us hard and kept our passing out of the back to a minimum, we were lucky not to be down more, some more teeth in the midfield (Ball) and a player who could break their press(Uncle) changed this however and we could have taken all 3, some very cynical fouls by them as well, they could/should have had a man sent off!Originally posted by QPRDave View PostBtw let's not overlook what a really good performance that was from Barnsley.
We couldn't lay a glove on em for the 1st half.@gatorTFC

We couldn't cope with Barnsley's press and tempo , lucky for us they tired and couldn't keep it up .Thomas doesn't seem to be good enough and dozzell kept giving the ball away . Big up warbs for taking them off . Dom ball was a calming influence in midfield slowing it down and moving the ball forward . We used the pace and trickery of uncle , chair and willock and got a point that felt like a win ...well done you'd fans for getting behind the team . Shout out to dunne thought he slotted in well , effective and calm

Personally don't think Barnsley were that good first half... both goals were basic football
Just don't play Thomas RWB (or at all to be honest) and Kakay LWB ... and you can't play Stefan and Dozzell next to each other imo
MW to blame for the first half.. but good performance second half when he reverted to the obvious.
Adomah needs more game time, Thomas isn't good enough wherever he plays and finally
Austin MOTM got the goal yes but i must have watched a different game

Just back from the match and firstly, well done to the guys for not giving up and gaining a draw.
Secondly, wtf was Warburton thinking with that line up?
I was talking with other fans during the early stages and none of us could understand the thinking of playing Kakay at lwb and Thomas at rwb . The latter was totally useless in that position (under stable to some extent as he has never played that before. At one point I thought Dickie was playing at rb as he had to go out there because Thomas never tracked back.
As I posted earlier in this thread I thought he would start with the back five that finished at Boro.
I thought he should have realised his error and made changes much earlier than he did, but at least he didn’t wait until half time or later to do so.
I thought Dozzell looked lost out there and I don’t know what Thomas’ position is but he does not look Championship material. I think Bettache already looks a better player than either of those and don’t understand loaning him out unless it’s a financial issue.
The ref was sh.ite throughout.
He talked to the keeper about time wasting in the first half yet he continued to do so all game and didn’t get booked.
As for the two players who go booked for their cynical fouls on Johansen and Adomah shouldn’t at least one have seen red. I thought the Johansen foul was reckless- dangerous and the Adomah one prevented a goal scoring opportunity.
Then the injury time of 5 min. 3 Barnsley subs (90 seconds) , treating an injury? after Chair’s foul (1 minute), that meant 2 and a half minutes for all that time wasting at goal kicks, throw ins and corners. 7 minutes would have been more like it.
Anyway enough ranting.
great goal from Chair and lovely finish and celebration from Austin.
the squad looks thin on the ground now and somehow we will need to bring in one or two (including a forward) before the Coventry match if possible.

He played a lot better as a rwb than on the left (don’t know what possessed MW to put him there in the first place).Originally posted by Martinmalta View PostKakay did very well and saved the day by that last-ditch tackle. We always mentioned the same players, however, today he played his heart out. Well done Osman.

He has played there before to be fair and with Wallace and mcallum out we were screwed .I know people say put Barbet there but he has been part of a good back 3 so I can understand the reluctance not to disrupt that if possible. Albert should definitely be in the side ahead of Thomas though .Originally posted by stanistheman View Post

I could be wrong but don’t recall ever seeing him play at left back. Last season we had Wallace and Hamalainen and Manning the season before. I have seen Kakay play in the CB position on the left but never full back.Originally posted by Stainrod View Post

but agree that Adomah ahead of Thomas every time.

Agree, and playing out of position too. Don't think Barbet gets enough love from the fan base. The talk is always of Dickie and even Jordi but it has been Barbet who has made a couple of goal-saving interventions in the last couple of games and he can certainly pass a ball. Its not about one being better than the other but think they are an excellent three. Jordi tho is often injured whereas Barbet was the only player in the entire football league to play every minute last season. Shows commitment, particularly when he played thru a bad shoulder injury.Originally posted by QPRDave View PostWhat a superb run and pass from Barbet for the Chaz goal.
Only just seen the highlights
