Could easily have been another 6-1, for 85 minutes we totally outplayed Watford, a late deflected goal for them gave them hope which was undeserved, will watch the goal again but felt Walsh was slow to react on the side he was covering
Watfords defending was a shambles and we had plenty of chances to score, their number 3 was a disgrace going down quicker than Katie Price.
Rangers played some lovely one touch football and looked dangerous in most attacks, real shame Kolli went off and hope it was more of a precaution, Bennie came on and showed why he needs a loan.
MOTM for me was Edward’s, a master class in defending closely followed by Smyth who worked non stop.

Bennie needs a yr in l1 but all in all we look fit now movement and pressing which is like us to have from the off next season

I thought we were superb once again today. As sleeping Giants commented on the match thread our inconsistency this season is beyond baffling.

We were boring and dismal for multiple games through Dec, Jan, Feb, yet lately we look like we could (and have) score(d) multiple goals. Obviously our injuries have notably improved and the opposition have notably got worse. It's still frustrating how inconsistent we have been this season.

It's nice that we're currently playing some good football once again, let's hope we can continue to do so in some tougher games ahead.

Bennie's fine. Keep him here in 24-man squad. There's no point him playing for, or against, Mansfield.

We're fantastic when we're on song but need to be ruthless and go for jugular when opposition are wobbling. Game could've and should've been effectively over at 60 mins with us 3 or 4 up.

Bit worrying how panicky and uncomposed several players got in last dozen or so minutes but Jimmy, Ronnie and RND kept cool and focussed and held their form so we picked up the win our overall performance deserved.

The key for next season will who will be sold for that crucial cash call.

If Nardi, Cook and JCS go to reduce the wage budget we can cope. If Varane is sold for £5-7m we should be able to replace him. If Burrell or Kone get sold it will be much harder to replace them. We have two seasons of big losses, so there must be an FFP implication this summer.

Sounds like it's a shitorbust situation. Maybe keep all the assets until January and then flog them if we're not 25pts clear at the top?

Thing is, this season has been there for the taking but JS spent too much time fretting about fatigue and 3 game weeks. We will still top 70pts but the finishing line will probably come to soon for us. Next season we need to be more punchy and confident in our approach - this squad could have hit 80pts this season with the right mental attitude and resilience. We need to get on a roll now in readiness to carry the momentum into August.

We can lose £36m over a three year cycle, but not all reported losses are attributed to relevant FFP losses. Investments into academy football and infrastructure dont count towards it. Also, its been said that player sales go into the books in full immediately, but player purchases go into the books in a proportionate way over the duration of the contract.

Reported "total" losses are:

23/24 - £13.5m
24/25 - £20.3m

Our accounting period runs to 31st May every year. We must okay for 1st June 2025 to 31st May 2026 (25/26) because we turned down money for Varane in Jan.

But to avoid a breach in the three year cycle to 31 May 2027 (26/27), surely we will need to trim the budget by not renewing older players (Nardi & Cook), not renewing players who cant stay fit (JCS), selling some that dont contribute (Saito & Mbengue) and one who seems to be in demand (Varane). I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Kone, Burrell or Kolli sold too.

The FFP situation is a closely guarded secret, so all guess work on my part. But I think it will be a busy summer.......again!!!
