I think you misunderstood my post. I am not putting anyone down. I love Tarbs, but his finishing is very inconsistent, and could be the difference between staying up and going down.

Adel is a top class player, the real greats play well consistently and if we are honest, that is not the case with Adel (yet)
May I remind you all, he is still very young and IMO is getting better.

Mackie and SWP have missed countless sitters this season, usually laid on a plate for them by Adel. Get frustrated with them, not Adel!

He IS consistent. He's been consistent all season, and most of the season before that. Just because he doesn't score twice every game doesn't mean he isn't playing well. He's constantly our main attacking threat, often our only source of creativity, and he isn't even a defensive liability anymore.

That wont be Taarabs fault as thats down to the strikers

He has only played that role a few times to fill in and done alright

If he was was messing up losing the ball and bad on the ball you would have a point

I must add that the Adel of last season wouldn't have been quick enough to pull away and be 1 on 1 with Clichy then Hart.

Clichy cleverly put Adel onto his left and Hart made a good save. Or, Adel's pace frightened Clichy and it just worked out that Clichy was so far to Adel's right that any trick trying to get Clichy to go left to get a shot from his right wouldn't have worked.

I love the guy, I think he is outrageously talented, and with his improved attitude and hard-work, I think if he was playing for a better side with better players, he would constantly be getting rave reviews - but the fact remains, he is not a goalscorer. Someone like Van Persie or Messi or Ronaldo would have buried that chance yesterday, but you just knew Tarbs was going to miss. So whilst I think he can make his way to the top and be a success, but I don't think he will ever be a "great".

Surely if Tarbs was on the level of Messi or Ronaldo, he would be playing for a team of that level. We are fortunate he had issues/inconsistencies in the past that forced managers to disregard him, otherwise we may never have seen him play in a hoops shirt, he has single handedly provided most of our highlights over the past few seasons and thus deserves more respect than this. You also state "he is not a goalscorer", you are correct, he is an attacking midfielder who has been playing out of position. Also the point that he will never be great, well how many ex-rangers are regarded as "Greats" in world football? you say it as if we should be disappointed, as we've had much better in the past.

It depends what you mean by "great". I have seen a BIG improvement over the last year (he now contributes to the TEAM). If his finishing and shooting ever improved to the same extent he really would be off to one of the top clubs. He is an amazing talent on the ball.

Just enjoy the draw against man city FFs . It's getting ridiculous the amount of threads created slagging off players when we just picked up 6 points against Chelsea, man city , spurs and west ham.

Back to the original point, it was a good save, but RVP, Messi, Ronaldo, these guys would have buried it.

RVP, Messi and Ronaldo are world class players. So is your complaint that Adel is not world-class yet...which is hardly a big complaint is it? Besides its certainly not a given that those 3 would've "buried it" with Hart in goal.

Tarbs also missed a sitter against Villa (I think). And some of his shooting is totally wayward. And it is small things like these that can be the difference between staying up and going down.

Adel will never be world class. Very good footballer though, has improved a lot in terms of attitude and work rate and I'm glad we have him but world class? Not a chance
