I think this has been acknowledged by the owners. Hence the investment in this area.

Until the new money arrived we haven't had a scouting network or an Academy in place for years - so no it hasn't failed us as we didn't have them.

Up until a couple of years ago, there wasnt an academy and our scouting system comprised of paladini's football agency!!

well i think the academy will be a total waste of money if im being frank....look at chelseas as an example.....even arsenals.....how many young starlets go on to play for their parent clubs....forget the academy n get knowledgeable scouts out around the grass roots game....not some reebok puff jacketed middle england 'fa coach' badge bearer dullard!

Surely it is the right way forward not just for the club but for the country to try and develop more of our own lads

This is the way clubs like ours can continue existing. In the past (as you friend Ted is always telling us) we had young players who played for the club, did well, and then we sold them on to other clubs and made a handsome profit.
