Great player that he is, he's never been prolific and is far more creative as he showed with his link up play with Dave the season before last.... Vine was superb, but Dave scored more goals.

That's why I said "forward" and not "striker".

We are short up front. If he's a great player as you say, to send him away is mad.

I agree in pronciple, but fans aren't crying out for a forward, they are crying out for someone who's going to start scoring goals, many insisting we need a mythical 20 goals a season man. Regardless if they are technically playing out of their usual position, nobody will care if they score. Ala Ronaldo for Utd played up top loads for them, often at Rooney's expense, or Chris Sutton when a centre half was played up front and then made a career in the position.

Personally i think this could be a good plan and may actually show that they know the players playing aren't good enough, and maybe Vine is the answer, BUT, he's not match fit so needs some games before he can slot into the side, hence a short loan.

Forgetting Vine for a minute (might as well, because he wont play for us again), if we get Simpson and he does well, that could be a very good thing for us.

Arsene Wenger wants his lads to be looked after and make progress, and if we are good for him... then convincing Wenger to lend us a couple of the *fantastic* young English players he has coming through the ranks at Arsenal will be a lot easier in the future.
The 16/17 year olds at Arsenal are a very special bunch, and when they are 18/19 they will be very highly sought after.


That's for the future, but IF Simpson does come this week... good luck to him.

sounds like a good player - but will he get us goals? We need a big strong striker who can cause problems for defenders. At the moment, defences have our strikers in their pockets every game

There'll probably be an official statement after he's played 5 games for us. Always first for information......
