From seeing him play, i would say he is better suited to the wing, he would never get into the Arsenal squad as striker. At a lower lever though, he would make a quality striker.

he played for west brom on the wing and was less effective...better up top.

Dando, it's not even close to a fair comparisson. Vine is unfit and unlike Connolly, Buzz, Routledge and Cerny, Rowan is not performing even at half his capacity.

This loan will be good for both parties. If it's explained to him that he is very much part of the future but not playing well enough to get the games he needs, i'm sure he'll agree to the loan with no bad blood.

I agree that he isnt playing the best - but then again, who is? Helguson is poor, and has missed loads and loads of chances - HE should be the one being sent out on loan, and Vine should be given a chance at starting. Vine will get going once he gets a goal - whereas Helgusson has proved time and time again that he cannot finish, and i dont see how much longer we are suppose to wait for him to do his job.

but how long can a player under perform and the team have to carry him.....from what somebody said the reserve games are not til late september so makes sense going out on loan.

If he needs minutes on the pitch, then how about starting with 90 minutes against Accrington Stanley?

What's the big problem with loaning Vine out to get match fit and his sharpness back? The article states there's no consideration to cash in, so it simply is for him to get fit, which he can't do with us if not currently sharp enough to force his way into our team...vicious cirlce.

Loan him out, get him buzzing again and then bring him back to potentially walk straight into our side.

That's the thing...he won't start many for us on current form.

If we get Simpson in and hopefully another...there is no need for Vine to be here for the short term. How good will it be to loan him out and get him back to sharpness as it would be like a new signing once he returns.

Great player that he is, he's never been prolific and is far more creative as he showed with his link up play with Dave the season before last.... Vine was superb, but Dave scored more goals.
