Green told he can leave QPR for NOTHING - Mirror

Robert Green has been told he can leave Queens Park Rangers for NOTHING – just three months after signing for the club.

Former England *goalkeeper Green joined QPR from the club’s *opponents tomorrow night, West Ham, after he rejected a new contract at Upton Park.

But his decision swiftly backfired as Rangers signed *Brazil international Julio Cesar – and Green was immediately dropped to the bench.

Now, Green has been told by manager Mark Hughes that he is already surplus to *requirements and he will be allowed to leave the Hoops on a free transfer, if he can find a new club.

The shot-stopper is *currently being paid around £50,000 a week by QPR, making him one of the highest-paid reserve *goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Former England goalie has been told he's not wanted just three months after he joined the club PLUS; West Ham's Mark Noble has England ambitions

Was a completely stupid signing by MH. He signed a crock for 50k a week, and then realised it a few games into the season. So that'll basically be a million pounds wasted.

AS they didn't pay a fee, it would make sense they'd release on a fre just to get his wages off the list, which is effectively worth Millions by doing so.

It's the sensible thing to do, and best for him too. It's just an embarrassing situation for everyone, and really not fair on Green.

Hopefully it can all be sorted quickly and he can get himself a new club and does well.

When you play 6 games including preseason and cause 4 clangers that caused goals what do you expect.

Green has no confidence in himself, On his day he is a Good GK but he almost seems scared in goal.
Was surprised he didnt start v Reading really but it sums it up now he isnt wanted.
We have gotta get another GK in Jan though to replace him still.

Cesar gets injured and we are f**ed !!!

Should have gone for Ben Foster in the first place, although ending up with Cesar i am very happy as he showed against Chelsea and Spurs he is a world class keeper.

Like Marshy said a strange decision from MH to have a very expensive reserve goalie.

Wish we would have invested the money in a young striker like Rhodes, Austin, Bony or others.

It was a panic buy from Hughes. We do like a freebie, which is good, but they need to be of quality.

Green made 3 or 4 howlers in pre season and then started his season by making another f**k up inside the first 20 mins of his debut. He makes our defenders nervous. He barely talks and always stays on his line and does not look commanding.

But who is going to want him on that money? He knows his England career is over, so why move?

He's probably an ok keeper, with zero confidence at the moment
just shows when how a lack of confdence in a player magnifies and makes things much worse
had we known Cesar was going to become available, before we signed Green, we wouldn't have signed him, surely
                          if he's on a contract now, don't understand why we can't get a fee, maybe £1.5 - £2 million.
There's always someone that will take him

If we charge a fee he can't leave until the next transfer window. If we let him go free we can just cancel his contract and can sign for anyone who has not named a 25 man squad as he is classed as home grown.

fair enough, but the next window is 13 weeks away, which is £650k in wages, between now and then. I'm sure someone will pay more than that for him
                              what do you think?
