    2012 Football Rivalries Census

thechriswhitingshow.wordpress.com/2012/08/28/2012-football-rivalry-census-results/ Interesting that foolham regard us as our main rivals and we regard cardiff and stoke as joint third rivals not surprised about cardiff but I'm surprised at stoke.

Well Stoke sold us Mike Sheron, and there was of course this incident here.

Wow, just read the whole article. We're 10th most hated team by neutrals? Above Manchester City and Arsenal? Dark days

Inbred stoke fans attacked our bus after that game and old bill had to keep fans Appart at train station, was proper messy. Royse was never the same keeper after that game.

This stems back to the days before Aldershot went bust and were a league club initially, before their subsequent rebirth and rise to the league again...

Reading were nothing special in those days, played at Elm park and they were a similar level, local and hate eachother.

I live near Aldershot and used to take in some games during college years and it isn't uncommon to hear them chanting "10 men went to blow, went to blow up Reading" (9 men, 8 men etc) for much of the game.

You note Aldershot also have Reading as their main rival, even though they have Farnborough Town about 3 miles away.

Hilarious that Fulham have put us as their main rivals. But it's our 'cup final', right?

It's particularly extraordinary given their geographical proximity to you know who.

My theory is that they've been bitch slapped by CFC so often that they can't bear to acknowledge them as their true rivals. Back in the 70s and early 80s Fulham were never remotely condsidered a our rivals. They had a sweet, twee image..... dear old Fulham....that kind of thing. CFC were always different story....

Thanks for the info Del, did think it was a bit weird and was interested to know as look at Aldershot as a local team since moving to Surrey.
