Got the impression a JB move to a lower div english team wasn't in QPR's interest either by what Phil said... Thought he was spot on with his comments! Lower League English Clubs also have very tight wage structures and any deal would have meant we would have been picking up a lot of his wages. Beard says he's off our wage bill and there is simply no reason to disbelieve that so it's great business. Add to that the fact Barton's profile will be higher playing in Ligue 1 than anywhere below the PL in England and it makes it far more feasible for him to get a decent move after this deal comes to an end.
