Seems a red card/penalty liability waiting to happen every time he plays the ball, always makes me nervous.

Defenders are taught to mark touch tight, but some take it to the extremes.

lost his pace and gets away with it like a lot of defenders by manhandling the opponent, if George Best was playing today he'd be mounted

Defenders should be taught the old-fashioned way, keep your hands to yourself, because if you don't, a penalty kick, or a free kick for the opposition, and a yellow or red card for you, will be the most likely, totally unsurprising outcome of your folly.
              Simple as.

Players have been taught touch tight marking for years. It allows defenders to watch the ball while knowing where the guy you're marking is.

seconds before he hauled down holt for the booking,i was thinking "you are too close,if he turns you, trouble" ...all he has to do in that situation is show/allow Holt the outside line, let him run down to the touchline if he wants, just dont let him cut in,which is what he wants to do...so what does Hill do?it's not rocket science is it?

It wasn't Hill. Holt's a dirty little lump of a player. Hill does get quite physical, but it was Holt that kept bringing him down with him and getting the ref to look at Holt as the victim. Same in the second half, Holt grabs Ferdinands arm and puts it around his body and then jumps to the floor as if Ferdinand done it.
