Every player in that squad would have made 4 mistakes in 7 games- it's just Rob Green's mistakes are far more obvious. Anyway...

My point about it giving out the wrong message is- by the looks of it, we don't have a group of players where confidence is particularly high, so they're fragile confidence won't be helped if they think one mistake will cost them their place in the team.

I agree completely with what your saying but at the end of the day you can't have a **** keeper and expect to stay in the PL

Ofcourse they do but a goalkeeping howler leads to goals. Not like a poor pass is it lol if Ferdinand was to make a howler which we then conceded 4 times out of 7 games he would be dropped.

              HAIL CESAR etc.

We can't get relegated this season. New tv deal comes into effect next year. The club needs that money. I'm not one of those scaremongerers comparing us to Pompey etc but our wage bill is HIGH. If Cesar makes the difference between relegation and survival then his signing is worth it. Sorry Rob. It's just not worth the risk.

OK so Cesar comes in and plays tomorrow and makes 2 howlers and costs us the game, hughes gives him the benefit of doubt and palys him at city next week where he makes another blunder. Who do we play then ?

Play Cerny and buy another goalie in Jan.

Very harsh on Green (though yea. he's not filled me with confidence either). Suggests his career @ QPR is almost finished before it started and he'll be a v expensive bench warmer. Not great from a business perspective either.
All somewhat strange, to be honest. Why did they sign him in the first place? I presume they had seen him play !
Maybe, he will be loaned out next week and then sold for £300K in January, if he is unhappy.

If you had a pair of shoes which were pretty expensive but did an ok job then a pair of shoes which were double the quality & you could still afford them came on in a sale, would you be moaning?

Rob Green is ok. Would do us fine but he has no competition and therefore able to make mistakes. Every other player on the pitch has to fight for his place, other than green (currently). It's not a panic buy, it's getting the right amount of players in the right areas.

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Green will be a very good back up if this comes off. Also if Cesar got injured, Green could come into the side with much less pressure (as a 2nd choice) and potentially have a blinder, get his confidence back and perform admirably for a few games and fight for that berth... We all know he is a good keeper undeneath, it's just he needs to be confident enough to not make avoidable howlers.

That said, lets not expect flawless keepers performances all the time. Afterall it isn't just Green who's fluffed his lines the last week... Cech make a worse blunder on Wednesday, and the "big new prospect" Buttland make a shocking error last week for Birmingham.

Also by January I'm sure Green won't be happy about being second choice so we could sell for around 2m and make a profit on him!
