A lot of Newcastle fans share these same views.

A lot of them also getting big headed again after their fifth place finish, hope they come back to earth with a bang this season.

Think the geordie has a point, but in my view Hughes is assembling a good mid table side.if we went down with this lot I'd be amazed.nufc might of signed some older players in the past, but they didn't have the right managerial set up that we've got now
      Ooh northern lads love gravy

I think there seems to be a lot of focus on age, and if a player is over 30 it seems he is over the hill. Now back in the 70s this was by and large the case although I remember a team that were undoubtedly the best footballing side never to win the league signing a couple of ageing CBs who did a pretty good job. What this bloke needs to ask himself is if only young players were any good all the top teams would be full of youngsters, and as far as I know Man Utd still play Giggs, Scholes, and Ferdinand, Chelsea won the European Cup with Lampard, Drogba, and Cole. The way players look after themselves these days is way above they used to, alot of players can easily play until their mid 30s if not a little longer. The way this bloke goes on, I take it he wouldn't have had toon legend Shearer at his club for the last 3 years of his contract (Shearer retired at 35)
Too many oldies I agree is not good, you do need young, athletic players as well but that's what you search for isn't it?...the right mix of both. To make up for the oldies we do have Faurlin, Diakite, Hoilett, Taarabt I don't need to go on, and as for his remarks about wages.......... I just give up, the only people that knows what we paying players are the players and management, not what are being guessed in the press.....does he think they play for Newcastle for love alone?.......actually he probably does!

wor newcastle.......dear oh deary me....another 'massive' club who aint won scooby doo since the days of black n white telly yet claim to be giants of the game...yes they get 53000 odd thousand at home but the average geordie is as thick as virginian redwood tree and turn up to watch any old dross....i laugh on holiday at the sight of fat overweight barcoded tops who must even bath(not often) in those hideous tops they live in.....delusional fans following a team more likely to go down than finish sixth again!.....
          you know nothing john snow!!!!

Very poorly researched article. Lots of factual inaccuracies, fantasy, and everything in between. Typical of many recent articles when it comes to QPR.

Then again - I'd rather be underestimated than over........ and the Geordies will have a lot of expectation at their club next year.

See you down the Rangers next year fellas....... like.......

We are obviously beginning to worry some of these out of date big clubs.Don't they know we haven't got a CB yet.

Park will be a good signing but obviously there are questions over the rest. If you were being critical, you could reasonably say that out biggest problem has not been addressed (CB), Cisse apart we've loaded up with ageing strikers with a poor goals/games average in recent times, our new GK has already demonstrated his well documented vulnerability, and we seem sold on wing backs and the predictable wing back role when a quality defensive full back or alternative system would be a decent bet, its not as if we don't have midfielders who can't play out wide. Unfortunately, because of the CB scenario, we don't have the option of doing what Martinez did at Wigan (3/4/3), which IMO was exceptional, 27 points from 14. Plus we don't have Martinez....

An good analysis of how he turned things round. Given the areas where we are weak, an awful lot is going to depend on Hughes' tactical ability....

There are certainly no questions over Diakite, wouldn;t say any over Hoilett and Fabio has played at the very top in the big games.... so sure he can perform for us.

I've just got a feeling we may see some interesting tactics this year from a variety of opponents and I wonder how well we'll cope when under the cosh, ie defending. If we can keep the door shut consistently we'll be fine... we have to see more clean sheets if we're talking mid table.

The players we've signed much much are better than those set to leave. It's really that simple. I've left em a lovely reply
