squad size

anyone else been thinking about how we narrow down the players into a squad of 25 yet? even without any more signings, it's a bit of a headache... i reckon the following 20 are fairly sure to get in:

3 x goalkeepers: green, cerny, murphy
6 x defenders: hill, nelsen, ferdinand, onohua, traore, fabio
8 x midfielders: diakite, faurlin, taarabt, hoilett, mackie, park, derry, wright-philips
3 x attackers: zamora, johnson, cisse

so if we don't sign a defender and an attacker (and if hargreaves really is just training with us), that leaves only 5 spaces for our other 10 senior players:

barton
bothroyd
campbell
connolly
dyer
ephraim
helguson
hulse
smith
young

having too much quality is definitely not the worst problem in the world to have, but that list of 10 'fringe' players does look like it attracts a hefty wage bill. maybe we need to start moving some of them on elsewhere.

I can see Helguson securing a place - I think we will sign CB - Connelly and Bothroyd may just make it

The rest will be loaned out or sold

Will we sign another striker though?

Helguson has earned a place. Get him in there. Barton hasn't earned a place but should still be part of the squad. Young is great cover.

Bothroyd serves no purpose. Ephraim seems like a nice bloke but would represent a waste of a place. Smith is a non-entity.

That leaves two places. I think we'll sign Ki and another striker. Possibly Hughes will sell SWP to make room for a CB.

Young has been made available i think, and apparently there is interest in Jay B from 3 champs clubs, according to some on Cardiff's board, don't know how true this is
