Am I the only one noticed our poor defending against the Indonesians? We need to get a good centre back and a Left Back.

Me too. I thought we defended poorly and agree that we need a CB and a LB if Traore is being moved into midfield. Hill is not quick enough as a LB anymore, and I think he plays better in the middle of the defence. After yesterday's game I don't think MH will use Ned at RB except for emergencies. I believe Fabio will occupy that slot.

You should judge the team and the defence nearer the season start. Too early to make rash judgements. One more defender will be signed before the window closes.

No your not alone. Ive said before fabio, onuha , Anton , and Trore are all liabilitys. So should be a few high scoring games this year if they don't do nothing about it.

and Lone Ranger is spot on too, a few of us have been going on about this for some time.

And it really isn't too early to be concerned. If the back four is an issue (never mind the GK) it really doesn't matter how many covering midfielders are in the side. It does mean we'll struggle.

I'm not interested in Hoillet or Bellamy. I am interested in defenders who can defend.

I am not basing this on any of the friendlies because I haven't seen them but just looking at who we have to play the positions I would agree we need another quality CB (Samba) and either a right or left back! It's early yet and I'll trust Hughes to get this sorted but it would be silly to have all of this quality at midfield and forward and be leaking goals because we haven't shored up the backline!

anton is a top quality defender. onouha was really solid when played at right back in our run in last season. and fabio has been signed to play left back. we have nelsen, hill, young and connolly as cover, as well as traore who can play left back. basis of a good defence there so no need to panic - just need one really commanding, tough centre half then we will be done and dusted.

These seem to be the options at the moment.

LB - Traore
CB - Onouha, Hill, Nelsen, Ferdinand, Connolly
RB - Young, Fabio, Harriman

My own opinion is Young is probably gone and Harriman will be back up for Fabio, who I believe has been brought in as a RB. Hill and Onouha can cover the FB slots as well, and I think MH will either bring in a LB to cover Traore or have the new guy as the main LB and have Traore as back up to a new LB or for Hoilett at LM. Like most, I think Traore is a better LM but I don't think MH will use him there that much otherwise we wouldn't be getting Hoilett.

If we get another LB in, that would sort out the FBs. The concern then would be our CBs. We all know we need a top class CB. Let's hope MH sees it that way too.

Don't panic people. I think its clear theu are looking for another top CB, but regardless our defence was excellent in the run in last season, and have added Nelsen into the mix. Fabio just replaces Taiwo so no real change there. Also Green is better than Kenny regardless of that error the other day. Point is we are stronger than we were when going well, so hardly need to worry.
