No chance will we be able to compete for a player of Alves' quality. Especially not when there are 2 giants after him who can offer European football. And probably more wages. Happy that we are seriously trying to get players like him though.

if he's available for 10 million we should take him right away if only a possible. He's 30 and for cb it's not much,he can play top level at least 5-6 years. But have to be realistic, if Milan and Juventus want him also our chances are very slim

I have not read anywhere the Samba is interested in leaving.

He's been gettign racial abuse, as is common in Russia and had a banana thrown at him among other things. Quoted as saying he nearly broke down afterwards. I think it's safe to assume he wouldn't mind a route out.

He may well be a better defender than Samba, but the point i was making was if Samba was a few years younger, you could argue any transfer outlay could effectively be ammotised over the years you get out of him as a player. I have just checked and Samba is 2 years younger.

That was when he first arrived and I have read that since then things have settled down and he has become quite popular so the abuse has stopped.

Not sure if we will actually get him but personally thought he looked quite good during the euro's.

Portuguese report on QPR's Alves bid (translated0

The Queens Park Rangers (QPR) is in the race for Bruno Alves. The emblem Britain is trying to hire the Portuguese international.

The Italian newspaper Tuttosport assumes that QPR submitted a proposal for 14 million euros.

In Italy, the player has also been appointed to several clubs.

About these rumors, Washington Alves, father of the player, told zerozero.pt the Portuguese international is' to examine the proposals. "

(another story says Fiorentina have made enquiries)

What ever happens, things like this raise our profile as a club, there was a time not so long ago that we would get excited just to see the clubs name in a paper being linked with a free transfer, and got excited because somebody actually might want to come to club, even this time last season we hadn't actually bought one player..!!!
I'd rather the club take their time and get it right, than go racing off and crash and burn and be back to old days of collecting change in buckets to help pay the players wages..!!!
If we don't sign another player in this window it doesn't matter, I for one will always be grateful to TF & MH for what they have done for our club, I don't think anyone else could have saved us last season..!!
Keep your High balls Low, and your long balls short, and get the front 2 to Play in a Triangle
