Who else misses being a small club?

I don't aim this at every fan or anyone in particular on this site as im sure a fair few of you feel the same, I remember being at Mansfield away when we won 4-0, Rushden & Diamonds away when we drew 3-3 and Ainsworth scored them two screamers, i remember being at Loftus Road when we were only get 12,000 every week, i remember being able to buy a match ticket on the morning of games! Where have all these fans come from since we started doing well? it's a shame, the majority of us stuck by rangers when we was having a rough time... But since all these so called fans have appeared i bet there are a few proper rangers fans who was with us when we weren't doing well who can't get down rangers now or cant even get a match ticket.

This post, I have to say, is probably the most derogatory post I've ever read here. How dare you judge who is a proper fan and who isn't? I've been to Rangers games when there's been four-figure crowds, and it would appear you only bothered to turn up when it got to 12k.

People have better things to do with their money, like pay mortgages or feed the family, rather than spend it on football. Does it make their love of the club any less? Perhaps you're in a better financial position than most, well good luck to you, but don't come on here running people down because they didn't go to many games and have started going now. You don't know the circumstances of all these extra 'so-called' fans.

Rangers fans have appeared out of the woodwork, ever since we started playing well in the Championship (the year we won it) why sit there and bang on like it never happened? I'm not being funny: But to give you just one example - It's a lot easier to get your card stamped, or even to bring your other half to a decent championship or PL match than it is to get the same when playing, say, Huddersfield in the p!ssing wet on a Saturday afternoon. Personally - I was also restricted by geographical distance so it was normally Plymouth, or one of the two Bristol teams.

Finally, you are always going to get in increase in interest with success. My family are all from the Acton area and have all been Rangers fans basically since day dot. Funnily enough, when we are doing well there is a lot of cross-talk and interest...... and when we are not there's a lot of looking through fingers and less talk. Are they not real fans?

So those people who didn't go to the two games you mentioned aren't proper Rangers then? Does it matter if people pick and choose the games they go to? Who are you to say who is a proper fan and who isn't?

Were you there during the protests in the Fulham Park Rangers days? How much money did you lose on shares? Have you been to see many reserve or youth games midweek? Have you been going regularly for the past 40 years whatever division we were in? Have you been to the dumps that were the Manor Ground or Elm Park? What about hellholes like Bradford or Barnsley?

How about POTY do's in the old days of the Pantiles? Did you ever attend any shareholder meetings? The list is endless mate. Neither you nor I are in a position to judge who are proper fans and who aren't. People go when it suits them.

Also regarding the rapid growth of the club, obviously I'm delighted to see the club achieve more and begin to earn itself a name on the international front, but the only thing that would upset me in this expansion would be the club leaving Loftus Road. I know everyone argues that in order for the club to grow the infrastructure must improve too etc but I always feel that LR has so much soul and I fear the R's will end up playing in a lifeless bowl like the Emirates that's hard to call home. As a young Irish fan who travels over to LR multiple times each season I can never imagine myself flying over to watch the R's anywhere else. I've always dreamt of bringing my future kids down the South Africa Road on matchday like my dad did with me. I just hope the club can keep it's sense of pride in locality and history.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you have to accept that people go as and when they can afford it. Personally, I'd have gone on the Asia tour if i could afford it, but I can't. I take it your not on tour either, but does it make you any less of a fan? Of course not.

I'm not sure of what you're saying. Your mates can't get season tickets? Well they can't be that "loyal" or they'd just have renewed their tickets? Seems a bit hypocritical here. They want to have a season ticket, only after we've stayed in the Prem? You know, the people that supported the club in the Championship winning season and last year were part of the success. I can't find any middle ground to agree with you here. Have I missed something?

You pretty much have all the answers right there. If your friends can't go due to money issues, surely there are other R's that are in similar boats? Or had deaths in the family, or kids, or university, or new jobs the list is endless really.
