I just think that's why players like Derry are at QPR, incase 2 of Faurlin, Barton or Diakite are out, we've also got other players that can cover that area like Park if needs be. I just think it would be pointless to add there when we could use the money on a centre half

Hughes will know how much money he has. He would have budgeted for a CB. I think de Jong could be a great signing if it happens.

Do we want people not playing in the best positions? Faurlin may take a while to get his match sharpness back, Derry is too old and who knows what is going to happen to Barton.

Mark Hughes brought nigel de jong to Man city, nigel only got one more season left till his contract run out, it would not surprise me if we really are after him.

Wouldn't mind De jong at all, just saying that Park is a quality CM too. Just as good in CM as at RM.

Well, this certainly isn't my week at the office. As much as I dislike Park (I'm over with it now, welcome Ji Sung), I think De Jong is the most overrated player in the Premier League. I really think we need more creative player in midfield. De Jong doesn't even know what that word means.

I agree it would make perfect sense to get De Jong. We only have 2 proper CMs ready for start of season as previously mentioned. But to say Faurlin isnt proven? Granted he only played half a season but he took to the PL like a duck to water, he was top of he table for tackles won in the entire league and had the media beginning to pick up on him with rumours of big clubs sniffing around him.

I just hope he comes back the player he was, cruciates a nasty nasty injury that ruins alot of players.

derry is there to come on ten minutes from the end if we are clinging on to an ugly 1-0 away win. Barton will be out for three months and Faurlin cd be the same. thats a third of the season for the engine room of our midfield before you even think about other injuries/ suspensions. if we dont get anyone else in it will mean playing park alongside diakite and having to rely on a combination of swp and mackie on the right - no disaster but maybe hughes thinks it cd be better. As for the CB argument, the order players arrive in is irrelevant. Pretty clear Hughes is in the market for a centre back as well. Dont think we have to make either/ or choices any more.

He isnt a creative player, correct. But you cant have a side full of creative players. De Jong does what Derry does, but 10 times better. He is 1 of the top "mucky midfielders" out there that just sit in front of the back 4 and break things up, giving the ball to others (in our case maybe Faurlin, Park, Adel) to do the creative stuff.
