Alan McDonald - in tribute

I'm all over the place. Girlfriend came in from work and asked 'Have you been crying?'. She thinks I'm a cold-hearted sod at the best of times and it isn;t eve worth explaining. In th 80s when all the kids down the park wanted to be Lineker, Barnes and Robson I wanted to be Macca so I could kick 'em.

His battles against Hughes and Harford were epic and worth the entrance money alone: true hard men, true professionals knocking seven shads out of each other for 90 minutes then a handshake at the end before Macca headed off for a few pints and a pack of B&H.

A really great guy,a real rangers legend,a great leader and captain.i used to chat to him
before every home game when working in the dressing room,he would always dissappear
about 15 mins before ko to have a crafty fag,i am absouloutly devastated.

To me everything a pro footballer should be always gave his all.

My first ever QPR match was in 1987 when we beat Arsenal 2-0 at LR. Macca scored the first. RIP Alan. Really sad news. I am proud of my avator. My pic with him in QPR open day.

Macca was a true leader and a great guy.Met him quite a few times back in the days when players drank and smoked even the night before games. He used to often be in the Red Lion in Hillingdon on a Thursday & Friday night. RIP MACCA, QPR LEGEND

I remember those days as well webbie,used to see quite a few in the pub,it dont seem that long ago,but as you say a great guy,in shock over this,really sad !

A very sad day and I still can't believe it, my brother broke the news to me this afternoon, he was in the same class as Alan's daughter.

I'll get him to send her the link to this thread so she can see how much we loved and still love him here.
